Jeff Brohm Shuts Down Michigan Rumors After Boca Raton Bowl Win
After Louisville’s gritty 27-22 win over Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl, Jeff Brohm didn’t waste time addressing the elephant in the room - the swirling rumors tying him to the now-vacant Michigan head coaching job. And if his postgame comments are any indication, Brohm isn’t looking to pack his bags anytime soon.
“I don’t speak on other jobs,” Brohm said. “I’m happy with this one.
I’m happy about the victory. We’re going to enjoy that.”
That’s about as close to a mic drop as you’ll get in the middle of college football’s coaching carousel.
Brohm’s name has been one of the hotter ones circulating this offseason, especially after Michigan parted ways with Sherrone Moore earlier this month. The Wolverines are hunting for their next leader, and Brohm, with his track record and Big Ten familiarity, naturally came up in the conversation.
But Brohm didn’t bite. He kept the focus on his team - and for good reason.
In just two seasons at the helm of his hometown program, Brohm has compiled a 28-12 record, including a 9-4 campaign this year that culminated in Tuesday night’s bowl win. That kind of success, especially at a program that’s still building its national identity, is bound to attract attention.
And it has - Brohm’s also been linked to high-profile openings at Florida and Penn State. But throughout the noise, he’s stayed steady, reportedly reaffirming his commitment to Louisville during the season.
The Michigan connection does have some interesting history. Brohm and Moore nearly crossed paths at Louisville in the late 2000s.
Brohm was on staff from 2003 to 2008 before heading to Florida Atlantic in 2009. That same year, Moore joined the Cards as a graduate assistant, eventually coaching tight ends by 2012.
While their tenures didn’t overlap, the shared Louisville ties added a layer of intrigue to the speculation.
Still, Brohm doesn’t seem interested in nostalgia or hypotheticals. His message was clear: he’s locked in on what he’s building at Louisville.
And right now, what he’s building is working. The Cardinals are coming off a bowl win, they’ve got momentum heading into the offseason, and they’ve got a head coach who, at least for now, isn’t looking elsewhere.
