Kaleb Beasley has arrived at Louisville with a clear chance to make his mark, and the Cardinals are counting on him to do it right away.
The junior defensive back stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 200 pounds, and after playing in 26 games across two seasons at Tennessee, he is positioned to open the season as a starter for Louisville. A former four-star cornerback out of Nashville (Tenn.) Lipscomb High School, Beasley came into Tennessee as part of the Volunteers’ 2024 recruiting class before shifting positions soon after he got to Knoxville.
That move eventually became part of his identity. With Tennessee bringing back a pair of veterans in a crowded cornerback room, Beasley made the switch to safety as a sophomore and embraced the change.
"I was big enough to play," Beasley said. "I could play man, I could play zone, so they ended up moving me to safety and I feel like it was a really good thing for me.
I honestly like safety better than corner. I get more vision on the quarterback.
I get to come down and tackle, play in the box. I get to cover slots, so I like it for sure."
His path to Louisville also came with a built-in connection. When Beasley entered the transfer portal, Louisville co-defensive coordinator Steve Ellis was already a familiar face from the recruiting trail.
"Coach Ellis actually recruited me in high school when I played corner, so when I hit the portal he was one of the first coaches who had contacted me," Beasley said. "I already had a relationship with him so it was really easy for me to come down here and take a visit."
