Louisville Makes Final Six for Top In-State WR Prospect

As recruiting battles heat up ahead of signing day, Louisville finds itself in a high-stakes race for one of Kentuckys top young playmakers.

Louisville Makes Final Six for 2027 Four-Star WR Cam Wade

As the college football world zeroes in on the Class of 2026 during this week’s early signing period, some programs are already playing the long game-and Louisville is among them. The Cardinals are not just focused on closing strong for '26; they’re also making serious moves for 2027. Case in point: Cam Wade.

The dynamic four-star wide receiver from Paducah Tilghman High School has narrowed his list to six schools, and Louisville is firmly in the mix. Joining the Cardinals in Wade’s final six are South Carolina, Maryland, Tennessee, North Carolina, and LSU.

At 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, Wade is the kind of athlete who demands attention. And Louisville’s new addition to the staff, Vince Marrow, is making sure he gets it.

Marrow has been relentless in his pursuit of Wade, and the connection is already paying dividends. He played a key role in flipping Wade’s teammate, offensive lineman Jarvis Strickland, from Kentucky to Louisville in the 2026 class.

Now, he’s aiming to make it a package deal.

“Coach Marrow has been pushing hard for a couple of months now,” Wade said. “Jarvis Strickland, my teammate, also has been in my ear nonstop.”

Wade hasn’t set a timeline for his decision, but with that kind of pressure from both coach and teammate, it’s clear Louisville is making a strong impression.

And why wouldn’t they? Wade is a game-changer.

In his first season at Paducah Tilghman, he hauled in 58 catches for 876 yards and 14 touchdowns. On the other side of the ball, he added 19 tackles, four interceptions-two of which he returned for touchdowns-and two fumble recoveries.

His impact was felt in all three phases of the game, helping Tilghman to a 12-2 season that ended in the 4-A state semifinals.

Wade’s versatility isn’t just a one-year flash. Before transferring to Paducah Tilghman, he played at East Nashville High School in Tennessee, where he lit it up as a sophomore.

He posted 23 receptions for 670 yards and nine touchdowns, rushed for 665 yards and two more scores on just 43 carries, and added over 500 return yards on special teams. That’s 1,844 all-purpose yards-proof that Wade doesn’t just play football; he takes over games.

And he’s not just a football standout. Wade is also an AAU Track and Field Junior Olympic All-American.

He’s clocked a 10.75 in the 100 meters and a 21.9 in the 200. That elite speed shows up on the field, whether he’s burning corners deep or breaking away on a return.

Recruiting services are taking notice. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 62 wide receiver in the 2027 class and the No. 9 player in Kentucky. The 247Sports Composite slots him at No. 220 nationally and No. 5 in the state.

Wade’s offer sheet reads like a who's who of Power Four programs. He holds offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Colorado, Florida State, Indiana, Kentucky, LSU, Maryland, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin-and, of course, Louisville.

The road to National Signing Day 2027 is still long, but Cam Wade is already a name to circle. And with Louisville in his final six-and Vince Marrow in full recruitment mode-the Cardinals are right in the thick of it for one of the most electric playmakers in the region.
