Louisville Lands Top In-State DL Over Several Southern Program Offers

Local standout Sebastian Blue adds size, skill, and hometown pride to Louisvilles 2027 recruiting class in a commitment that checks every box for both sides.

The Louisville Cardinals just landed a big-time commitment for their 2027 recruiting class - and they didn’t have to look far to find him.

Sebastian Blue, a 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman out of Louisville (Ky.) Trinity, is staying home. The in-state standout gave his verbal to head coach Jeff Brohm over the weekend, choosing the Cards over offers from FAU, Southern Miss, Appalachian State, and a growing list of interested programs.

And make no mistake - the interest was real. While Blue hadn’t officially picked up offers from some of the bigger names yet, schools like Notre Dame, Stanford, and Kentucky were keeping close tabs on his development. He was clearly on the radar, and his stock was trending up.

But Blue didn’t see the need to wait for more offers to roll in. He found what he was looking for in Louisville - a program that believed in him early, recruited him hard, and gave him a chance to represent his city at the next level. That kind of connection matters, especially for a player who’s already shown he can be a difference-maker.

Blue becomes the second Trinity product to commit to the Cardinals in the 2027 cycle, joining Top100 cornerback Allen Evans, who announced his decision during the 2026 Navy All-American Bowl. That’s two high-profile gets from one of the state’s powerhouse programs - and a strong early statement from Brohm’s staff about keeping top talent close to home.

As for Blue’s junior season? He was a force.

Racking up 39 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks, he consistently disrupted opposing offenses with his quickness off the line and relentless motor. It’s that blend of production, physicality, and upside that made him a priority for the Cardinals.

The coaching staff clearly saw something special - and they moved with purpose to lock him in early. Blue’s commitment gives Louisville a foundational piece in the trenches, and if his trajectory continues, he could be a name we’re talking about a lot more over the next few years.
