Louisville football is off to a flying start with its 2027 recruiting class, and there’s a lot for Cardinals fans to be excited about. With seven commitments already locked in - including four highly rated four-stars according to the 247Sports Composite - the Cardinals are building something real. The class currently ranks No. 11 nationally and sits third in the ACC, a strong early statement about where this program is headed under its current direction.
Let’s take a closer look at the headliner of this early group: quarterback Jack Sorgi.

- No. 19 quarterback
- No. 4 in Indiana
Sorgi isn’t just the first commitment in Louisville’s 2027 class - he’s also the tone-setter. A 247Sports Composite four-star, he’s already drawing attention for both his pedigree and production. The Indiana native is the son of former Indianapolis Colts backup quarterback Jim Sorgi, and he’s showing early signs that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
Louisville was the first to see something special in him, offering a scholarship after a standout showing at one of their summer camps. That camp wasn’t short on quarterback talent either - multiple top prospects from the 2027 class were in attendance - but Sorgi was the only one to walk away with an offer. That speaks volumes.
According to Sorgi, the Louisville coaching staff was impressed with his footwork, arm strength, and overall presence under center. “They said they see potential in me to grow at QB,” he shared after the offer came through. That belief laid the foundation for his commitment, and he’s since made multiple return visits to campus, signaling a strong early bond with the program.
On the field, Sorgi is already putting up numbers that back up the hype. Per MaxPreps, he threw for 2,911 yards and 32 touchdowns last season, with a completion rate of 61.2%.
Sure, the 14 interceptions are a number he’ll want to clean up, but there’s no denying the upside. He’s got the frame, the arm, and the early experience to develop into a high-level college quarterback.
With Sorgi leading the way, Louisville’s 2027 class is shaping up to be one of the most promising in recent memory. And if the early returns are any indication, the Cardinals are building a foundation that could pay off in a big way down the road.
