Louisville is still in the mix for one of the biggest names in the Class of 2027.
On Monday night, Chandler (Ariz.) Compass Prep forward Demarcus Henry revealed his top eight schools, and the Cardinals were on the list. Arkansas, BYU, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina and UConn also survived the cut.
Henry, a five-star prospect and the son of former NFL wide receiver Chris Henry, picked up an offer from Louisville in April. Assistant coach Ronnie Hamilton has been his lead recruiter. Before trimming his list, Henry had offers from Arizona State, Gonzaga, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Texas A&M and others.
At 6-foot-7 and 190 pounds, Henry is viewed as a consensus top-five player in the class. All three major recruiting services have him as a five-star, and each one slots him as the No. 1 small forward. His national ranking reaches as high as No. 3 with On3/Rivals and ESPN, while the 247Sports Composite has him at No. 5 overall.
Henry’s junior season at Compass Prep backed up the hype. He earned Second-Team All-Nike EYBL Scholastic honors and MaxPreps Junior All-America honorable mention after averaging 12.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. The Dragons went 25-3 and finished No. 4 in the national rankings.
“Henry’s size, length, and defensive versatility are what could draw next-level decision-makers to him down the road,” Babcock Hoops' Samad Hines wrote in his scouting report of Henry. “He can guard multiple positions, switch across the floor, and impact the game with his athleticism and physical tools. He is also an excellent rebounder, consistently using his motor and length to clean the glass.”
Louisville currently has one commitment in the 2027 cycle, from Louisville (Ky.) Fairdale forward Ferlandes Wright.
Orlando (Fla.) Southeastern Prep center Obinna Ekezie Jr. and Hickory (N.C.)
Moravian Prep guard Isaac Ellis also committed, but both reclassified to the Class of 2026 and will join UofL for the upcoming season.

Louisville Heads To Bahamas For First Look At New-Look Cardinals
Louisvilles mens basketball team is headed back to the Bahamas next summer for a pair of exhibition games at the 2026 Baha Mar Hoops Summer League, giving Pat Kelsey another chance to put his roster through live action before the school year begins. The event, run by bdG Sports, has become a useful stop for teams looking for extra practices and a first look at how new pieces fit together, and Louisville will get that benefit on July 28 and 29.
For Kelsey, it also offers an early gauge on a group that looks very different from last seasons version of the Cardinals. Transfers Flory Bidunga, Jackson Shelstad, Karter Knox and lvaro Folgueiras are among the newcomers joining freshmen Obinna Ekezie Jr., Boyuan Zhang and Isaac Ellis, and the trip should help sort out how quickly that mix comes together. The only real unknown now is what kind of international opposition Louisville will see across those two games. [Read more 🡒]
Louisville Just Got The Recruiting Update Fans Were Waiting On
Mikel Brown Jr. finally got on the floor for Brooklyn in Summer League, and the early signs were encouraging for Louisville fans tracking his first taste of pro ball. After missing the Nets first two games, the former Cardinals guard returned in Sacramento and helped in a win, showing the shot-making and playmaking that made him such a key piece for the program before moving on.
Back in the recruiting lane, Louisville also got the kind of update that keeps a staff and fan base paying close attention. Louisville Fans Have One Big Summer League Question About Mikel Brown Jr
Mikel Brown Jr. finally gave Louisville fans their first real summer look at the next chapter, stepping onto the NBA Summer League floor with the Brooklyn Nets after a one-and-done season that ended with him going sixth overall in the 2026 NBA Draft. His debut offered a little of everything the Cardinals faithful expected to monitor, as he finished with 10 points, four assists and a rebound while getting his first taste of pro pace and spacing.
The bigger question for Louisville followers is how Browns game translates as the summer goes on, especially with so many familiar names scattered across the leagues showcase circuit. Ryan Conwell and J'Vonne Hadley are with the Miami Heat, Isaac McKneely is in Atlanta, and Chucky Hepburn is back with Toronto after his injury setback, giving Cardinals fans a steady stream of former players to track while Browns own adjustment to the next level begins to take shape.
