Louisville’s 2026-27 non-conference calendar is set, and it comes with plenty of heavyweight matchups scattered from October all the way into late January.
The Cardinals open with two exhibition dates, first at Kansas on Wednesday, Oct. 21, then back home at the KFC Yum! Center against Mercyhurst on Wednesday, Oct.
- After that, the real season begins with the start of Louisville’s 113th year of basketball on Monday, Nov. 2 against Chattanooga in the KFC Yum!
Center, coming after a Louisville women’s basketball game. The early home stretch continues with Morehead State on Saturday, Nov.
Louisville’s first road test arrives on Nov. 15 at Memphis, a rivalry the Cardinals lead 55-36. The team then returns home for Stetson on Thursday, Nov. 19 before heading into one of the most demanding stretches on the schedule.
Thanksgiving week sends Louisville to Las Vegas for the Players Era 16 Tournament. The Cardinals open against Texas Tech on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at Michelob ULTRA Arena, then play either Oregon or St.
John’s on Thursday, Nov. 26 before wrapping up with a third game on Friday, Nov. 27.
If Louisville goes 3-0 that week, it will meet the other unbeaten team in the Players Era 16 Championship Game on Saturday, Nov. 28.
The Cardinals are 68-41 against the field in the event.
From there, the schedule turns back toward marquee home and neutral-site games. Louisville hosts Texas in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Tuesday, Dec.
- The Longhorns reached the Sweet 16 after advancing from the First Four in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
Four days later, the Cardinals face Michigan on Saturday, Dec. 5 in a neutral-site matchup at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. It will be a 2013 National Championship game rematch, and the Wolverines are the defending national champions.
The non-conference slate also includes the 59th Battle of the Bluegrass, set for Saturday, Dec. 12 in Lexington. Louisville then comes back to the KFC Yum!
Center for games against Long Island on Wednesday, Dec. 16 and Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Dec. 19.
The final non-conference game on the calendar is another neutral-site matchup, this one against Baylor on Saturday, Jan. 23 in Indianapolis. Like the rest of Louisville’s guaranteed regular-season non-conference schedule, it adds another piece to a lineup that includes 11 opponents and five teams that played in the 2026 NCAA Tournament: Michigan, Texas, Texas Tech, Kentucky and Long Island.
Overall, Louisville is 122-95 against its guaranteed regular-season non-conference opponents, and five of those 11 foes come from Power Four conferences: Texas and Kentucky from the SEC, Baylor and Texas Tech from the Big 12, and Michigan from the Big Ten.
