Louisville is entering the season with real momentum in the ACC race, and the betting market is backing that up.
FanDuel has the Cardinals with the third-best odds to win the ACC in 2026 at +750, putting them behind only Miami at -135 and SMU at +700. After that, the gap opens quickly: Clemson is next at +1600, followed by Virginia at +1700 and Pitt at +1800. As it stands in July, the conference picture looks like a three-team fight at the top.
That’s a strong spot for Jeff Brohm’s team, especially with a schedule that gives Louisville a clear path to make noise. The Cardinals don’t play Miami, Clemson or Virginia this season, and they’ll get SMU and Pitt at home. Those are the kinds of details that can matter a lot when a team is trying to push into the ACC title picture.
Louisville has also spent the offseason reshaping the roster. The Cardinals brought in 32 transfers, including multiple four-stars in Lawayne McCoy, Tre Richardson, Brody Foley and Marquise Davis, among others. On offense, the pieces point toward a unit that should have plenty of juice, with Isaac Brown and Keyjuan Brown back in the fold and Lincoln Kienholz stepping in as QB1 after transferring from Ohio State.
The early stretch will tell a lot about where this team is headed. Louisville opens against Ole Miss in Nashville, Tenn. in what should be a top 25 showdown, and SMU arrives in Week 3. Those two games, along with the first three weeks overall, loom large for the Cardinals’ push toward the College Football Playoff conversation and a trip to Charlotte.
With 65 days left until Week 1, Louisville is very much in the mix. Brohm has the Cardinals positioned as a legitimate ACC contender, and the odds say they’re not being overlooked.
