The NFL’s training camp calendar is back, and Louisville is showing up in a big way.
With July 22 marking the first day players report around the league, 36 former Cardinals are on NFL rosters as teams start the long process of sorting out final spots before the 53-man roster cut deadline on Aug. 30 at 6:00 p.m. EST.
Some of those ex-Cardinals are already locked in. Others still have work to do once the pads come on and the preseason starts to tell the real story.
The Louisville group is spread all over the league, from the Jaguars to the 49ers and from the Dolphins to the Saints. The list includes a linebacker with the Jacksonville Jaguars, a wide receiver with the Miami Dolphins, a defensive end with the Los Angeles Rams, a defensive tackle with the Minnesota Vikings, and another Dolphins receiver who played at UofL from 2022-25.
There’s also a quarterback with the Detroit Lions who was at Louisville from 2011-13, a cornerback with the New York Jets from 2022-23, and another cornerback now with the Arizona Cardinals after his 2020-22 run in Louisville. The Dolphins’ Louisville pipeline continues with yet another wide receiver from 2022-23, while the Detroit Lions have a former Cardinals receiver from 2017-22.
The list keeps rolling with a defensive end/outside linebacker at Tampa Bay, a running back with the Chargers, a Miami cornerback, a Chiefs defensive end, and an outside linebacker with the Eagles. A 2023 Louisville running back is with the 49ers, while the Giants have a center who played at UofL from 2021-23.
The Ravens have a quarterback from the 2015-17 Louisville teams, the Texans have a running back from 2021-23, and Miami has added a defensive tackle who was at Louisville from 2024-25. The Jets also have a wide receiver from 2024-25, while the Titans are carrying an offensive lineman from the same span.
Among the rest of the group, the Bears have a quarterback from 2025, the Chiefs have a center from 2024-25, and the Packers have a linebacker who spent 2021-25 at Louisville. Houston also has a defensive tackle from 2012-15, the Rams have a tight end from 2024, and Miami has another defensive end from 2021-23.
The Saints feature both a cornerback from 2022-24 and a quarterback from 2024, while the Browns have a wide receiver from 2023. Carolina has a cornerback from 2024, the Raiders have a cornerback from 2020-21, and Cincinnati has a safety from 2017-20. Buffalo has a cornerback from 2021, and San Francisco rounds out the group with another wide receiver from 2020-21.

Louisville Is Pushing Hard For A Five-Star Guard It Must Land
King Gibsons recruitment is starting to take shape, and Louisville is right in the middle of it. The highly ranked 2027 combo guard from SPIRE Academy said the Cardinals are among the schools drawing the strongest interest alongside Baylor, LSU, UConn and Arkansas, and he has not yet taken any official visits. Those trips are expected to come in the fall, with his parents helping arrange them, which gives Louisville a real chance to make a deeper impression when the process moves from conversation to campus time.
For the Cardinals, the appeal is obvious: Gibson is the kind of guard talent that can change the trajectory of a class, and he is still early enough in the process to be shaped by fit, relationships and vision. His recruitment is still open-ended, but Louisville has stayed in the mix through steady contact, and the next stage of the chase figures to matter. Louisville Is Already In The Mix For An Elite Young Big
Bentley Lusakueno is already on Louisvilles radar, and for a program that consistently has to think ahead on the recruiting trail, that matters. The 2028 five-star center has been in early conversations with the Cardinals, including with assistant coach Sean Dixon, as the staff starts to get a feel for one of the most intriguing young bigs in the country.
Lusakueno is still focused on improving his game and hasnt locked in any visits yet, though he expects to start making them in the fall. He is also open to reclassifying to 2027 if the right opportunity presents itself, which only adds another layer to a recruitment that could move quickly once schools decide how aggressively they want to push.
