Louisville’s ACC hopes got a notable stamp of approval this week from CBS Sports college football analyst Brad Crawford, who put the Cardinals in a very small group of real conference title threats.
That kind of attention fits the way Louisville has attacked the offseason. Jeff Brohm’s team brought in more than 32 transfer commitments from the Transfer Portal, including multiple 4-star transfers, while Brohm and Vince Marrow also managed to keep key pieces in place. Isaac Brown, Antonio Watts, AJ Green, Stanquan Clark and other important returners are back, giving Louisville a roster that looks far deeper and more complete than it did a year ago.
Crawford said Louisville belongs in the ACC title conversation alongside Miami and SMU, and he made clear how strongly he feels about the Cardinals.
"Back-to-back impressive years from Jeff Brohm. He has been able to do it in the Transfer Portal as well.
Louisville has a lot of resources toward talent acquisition, and he has always had solid quarterback play. I think Louisville's schedule this season sets up for a high-end finish in the conference.
Louisville is one of the three teams I think that has a chance to win the ACC, including Miami, my preseason ACC No. 1, and SMU. So, I am super high on Louisville, and I think the addition of Lincoln Kienholz at quarterback is huge from Ohio State.
And then Isaac Brown, a 1,000-yard running back who is one of the best ball carriers in the country."

Brohm’s track record is part of why Louisville is drawing this kind of buzz. In his first season with the Cardinals, he guided them to the ACC Championship Game, and now he’s entering Year 4 with expectations that are much bigger than simply being competitive. Louisville also handed him a contract extension after he drew interest from Michigan, Penn State and LSU.
The resume already has some loud wins on it. Louisville upset No.
2 Miami on the road last season, beat Clemson the year before and knocked off Notre Dame in Brohm’s first year. The next step is putting all of that together over a full season.
The schedule gives Louisville a real path. The Cardinals avoid Miami, Clemson and Virginia, and that only adds to the sense that this could be the year they finally turn talent and momentum into a run at the ACC crown.
The first AP Poll will be released in mid-August, but Crawford’s message was already clear: Louisville is not just in the mix. It has a legitimate shot to win the league and chase its first College Football Playoff berth.

ESPN Just Sent Louisville A Message Fans Wont Like
ESPNs preseason Football Power Index has Louisville sitting just outside the national top 25, a reminder that respect around the program is still being earned rather than assumed. The model does like enough about Jeff Brohms group to slot the Cardinals fourth in the ACC, behind Miami, Clemson and SMU, and it sees a season that should keep Louisville in the mix if the roster comes together the way the staff expects.
That projection also reflects why this team has a real case to push higher than the numbers suggest. Louisville brings back several key pieces and has supplemented them with notable transfers for 2026, giving Brohm a roster with more proven options than the average preseason ranking might imply. The question now is whether that blend of continuity and new talent can turn a solid forecast into something more dangerous once the games start. [Read more 🡒]
Louisville Just Landed The Kind Of Recruiting Win Fans Needed
Louisvilles 2027 recruiting momentum got another jolt with a commitment from defensive lineman Kadin Fife, a pickup that says as much about the programs reach as it does about the staffs ability to close. The Cardinals have been stacking blue-chip talent in that class, and this latest addition gives the group even more credibility as it continues to take shape.
Fifes decision mattered because Louisville had to beat out some heavyweight competition to get it done, and that kind of win can ripple beyond one pledge. With four 4-star commitments now in the 2027 class, the Cardinals are building a foundation that looks more and more like something worth watching closely as the cycle unfolds. [Read more 🡒]
Louisvilles Portal Prize Comes With A Price Tag Fans Wont Believe
Louisvilles offseason work in the transfer portal has already put the program in rare air, with the Cardinals landing what is being billed as the top class in the country. The headliner is Flory Bidunga, whose arrival gives the roster a frontcourt anchor and a proven high-major presence, the kind of addition that changes how a team can be built around him.
The price of that kind of talent is part of the modern college basketball conversation, and Bidungas name has quickly landed near the top of it. On3 Sports has him valued among the sports biggest NIL earners, a reminder that Louisville did not just add a difference-maker on the floor, it stepped into the new financial reality that comes with chasing elite portal talent.
