Louisville’s receiver room has a different feel heading into 2026, and TreyShun Hurry is right in the middle of it.
Now entering his second season with the Cardinals after transferring from San Jose State before the 2025 campaign, Hurry is no longer just trying to settle in. He’s one of the veterans in a group that has been reworked around him, and he says the biggest change is simple: everything is starting to slow down.
After catching 15 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown in his first year at Louisville, Hurry said the offseason has brought a clearer command of the offense and a chance to play faster.
"I feel from last year is just being more comfortable with the playbook and be able to go out there, fly around and make plays," Hurry said.
That comfort has also pushed him into a leadership role. With younger receivers and new portal additions learning the system, Hurry has been helping the group get on the same page as camp begins.
"I feel like the whole room this year, we got young guys but they're all learning on the fly so like we all getting a good feel about the playbook."
One of the names drawing attention early in camp is Vanderbilt transfer Tre Richardson, who missed spring practice while recovering from foot surgery. Hurry said Richardson’s return has already changed the look of the offense.
"I feel like having Tre back you can already feel it's like a relief for everybody," Hurry said. "It's easier getting everybody open. He's a great piece to addition to our offense."
That chemistry hasn’t been built only on the field. Hurry said the connection with Louisville’s quarterbacks has grown through time spent together in spring, summer work and even bowling trips.
"We got a good relationship with them boys," Hurry said of the quarterback room. "We go bowling a lot so we bowl around, trail around with them boys, but it's been good. We work outside on off days, on days and it's just only going to keep getting better and better with them boys."
Louisville opens the season Sept. 6 against Ole Miss at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, and Hurry is eager for the first real test.
"I'm excited for game one, excited for the whole season," Hurry said. "But it's a good opportunity to go out there and show them what we could do versus a high-level team."
