Louisville is back on the trail for another local name in the 2028 class, and this one already knows the program well.
Jordan Mitchell, the 4-star shooting guard from Louisville who now plays at Link Academy in Missouri, made an unofficial visit to the Cardinals this past weekend. It was his second unofficial visit to Louisville, a clear sign the hometown connection is still alive as Pat Kelsey and his staff keep pressing on early targets in the next two recruiting cycles.
Mitchell’s profile keeps rising, too. The 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard spent the past season at Louisville Male High and put together a huge year, averaging 24 points per game while shooting 55 percent from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range. He also earned a spot in the All-Star game at the Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas, where he delivered 16 points on 77.8 percent shooting overall and 60 percent from deep.
Now at Link Academy, Mitchell is stepping into national-level competition, and the rankings reflect the buzz around him. He’s listed as high as No. 56 overall, No. 11 among combo guards, No. 19 among shooting guards, and No. 1 among Missouri recruits.
Louisville appears to be one of the schools pushing hardest. Mitchell is hearing the most from the Cardinals, along with Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, TCU, and Auburn, and he currently holds five offers.
Kelsey’s recruiting work has already helped reshape Louisville since his arrival, and the Cardinals are leaning into the local angle again. They already landed Louisville native Ferlandes Wright in the 2027 class, and Mitchell now looks like another major hometown priority for the 2028 cycle. The city of Louisville has four recruits inside 247Sports’ top 100, with Josh Lindsay ranked as the top Kentucky native in the group.

Louisvilles quarterback picture got a lot murkier heading into a tricky road trip after Jeff Brohm said Lincoln Kienholz is dealing with an unspecified injury.
