Louisville Football Lands Two Key Recruits to Boost 2027 Class

Louisville football's 2027 recruiting class is gaining national attention as high-profile commitments and strategic hires push the program into uncharted territory.

Louisville football is heating up on the recruiting trail, and the 2027 class is already turning heads in a big way.

Over the weekend, the Cardinals added two more names to their growing list of commits: Cornelius Tims III and Josiah Pouncy. Tims, a rising prospect who’s been flying under the radar, chose Louisville over offers from Syracuse, Kansas, Boston College, UCF, and West Virginia. Pouncy, a versatile 3-star athlete, brings a dynamic skill set to the table and had drawn interest from Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Pitt, and several others before picking the Cards.

These two additions push Louisville’s 2027 class to seven total commitments-and the buzz is real. With Vince Marrow now in the fold as a key figure in the program’s recruiting efforts, Louisville is making serious noise. Marrow didn’t mince words when asked about the team’s momentum: “Not done yet,” he said, signaling that the Cardinals are far from finished.

And the numbers back it up. Of those seven early commits, four are 4-star prospects-a notable jump from the 2026 class, which had just three 4-stars among 20 total signees. That’s a significant uptick in quality, and it’s happening early.

The crown jewel of the class so far? That would be Allen Evans, the highly touted 4-star cornerback from right in Louisville’s backyard.

Evans is ranked as high as No. 39 nationally, making him the sixth-highest rated commit in the program’s modern history. Landing a local star of that caliber is always a win, but doing it while fending off top-tier competition makes it even sweeter.

And Evans isn’t alone. Quarterback Jack Sorgi, tight end D’Angelo White, and wide receiver Chuck Alexander Jr. round out the 4-star group.

All three had major programs knocking on their doors-schools like Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Tennessee-but chose to roll with the Cardinals. That speaks volumes about what Jeff Brohm and Marrow are building in Louisville.

Right now, the 2027 class sits at No. 11 in the national rankings. For context, Louisville hasn’t cracked the top 15 in recruiting since 2010.

If this pace continues, that could change in a big way. The Cardinals are currently ahead of some blue-blood programs, including Michigan, Florida State, Clemson, Tennessee, and LSU.

That’s not just a hot start-that’s a statement.

Of course, it’s still early. The spring and summer months are when recruiting really ramps up, and there’s plenty of work left to be done. But if the current trajectory holds, this could go down as one of the most impactful classes in Louisville football history.

Brohm and Marrow are building something-and the rest of the college football world is starting to take notice.
