Louisville’s offseason keeps getting louder, and Seth Trimble is the name that could push it into another gear.
The Cardinals have already built serious buzz by adding nine players this offseason, including six through the Transfer Portal, a haul that gave Pat Kelsey’s team the No. 1 overall Transfer Portal class. That surge has Louisville sitting with some of the highest odds to win the 2027 National Championship and drawing talk as a top 15 team nationally.
Even with all that movement, the roster still isn’t finished. With only 12 players on the team, Louisville appears to be chasing one more major piece.
That piece, according to Keeping It Heel’s Nick Delahanty, is Trimble.
Kelsey has already acknowledged the shifting landscape around the recent eligibility ruling for the class of 2022, and he made clear he understands the job doesn’t stop just because the roster looks good on paper.
“But this craziness that's going on, you have to stay vigilant,” stated Kelsey. “I would not be doing my job, and I would be asleep at the wheel, if you're not staying attentive to what's going on out there."
Now Louisville fans have a possible answer to what that vigilance looks like. Trimble, the former North Carolina guard, is in the mix as a potential addition for the Cardinals. Delahanty said the door is open for Trimble to return to college basketball, and even suggested the ACC remains a likely landing spot.
“There's a realistic chance that Seth Trimble plays college basketball for another program next season,” stated Delahanty ”It's also likely that Trimble could end up in the ACC and, in turn, could compete against the Tar Heels at some point this season.”
Trimble’s situation is moving quickly. He recently signed with the Washington Wizards and played for them this summer in the NBA Summer League, so he’ll need to decide soon whether his next step is pro basketball or another year in college.
If it does become college, Louisville would be getting a proven scorer coming off his best season. Trimble averaged 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 47 percent from the field.
The Cardinals already added former 5-star point guard Jackson Shelstad, but landing Trimble would take this offseason to another level. For a team already being talked about as a national title threat, adding one of North Carolina’s leading scorers from last season would only sharpen the hype around Kelsey’s roster.

Louisvilles fourth day of fall camp leaned toward the encouraging side, especially for the quarterbacks, as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brian Brohm said the room has shown both depth and steady improvement. Under hot conditions, the Cardinals kept working through positional growth, with Brohm pointing to starter Lincoln Kienholz, transfer Davin Wydner and freshman Briggs Cherry as part of a group that has handled the early test of camp in a way that should help the offense settle in.
The one concern hanging over the practice field was Isaac Brown, who took part in some early reps before moving to work with a trainer. Brown remains a central piece of Louisvilles offensive picture, so any interruption to his camp rhythm matters, especially with the quarterback group still building timing and comfort across the offense.
