The ACC is deep into the grind of conference play, and this past week delivered a mix of dominance from the top-tier squads and turbulence in the middle of the pack. Duke, Louisville, and Virginia continue to look like the class of the conference, handling business with the kind of consistency that separates contenders from the rest.
Meanwhile, Clemson couldn’t keep pace, dropping tough ones to both Duke and Virginia Tech. North Carolina, already searching for rhythm, took a hit with a loss to Miami - and an even bigger blow with the injury to Caleb Wilson, who’s expected to miss a few weeks.
Elsewhere, a handful of teams in the ACC’s middle tier punched above their weight, showing signs of life in a league where momentum can shift quickly. But for others, the struggles are stacking up. Boston College and Georgia Tech, in particular, continue to slide - and in Georgia Tech’s case, they’ve hit rock bottom.
No. 18: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
It’s been a rough stretch in Atlanta. The Yellow Jackets have dropped seven straight, and their latest outings - lopsided losses to Virginia and Notre Dame - only underscored how far they’ve fallen. The lone bright spot in conference play remains a January win over NC State, but outside of that, it’s been a string of disappointments.
Georgia Tech hasn’t just been losing - they’ve been outclassed. The offense has struggled to generate rhythm, and defensively, they haven’t been able to contain much of anything.
With February winding down, the Jackets are simply trying to find something to build on before the season wraps. Right now, it’s less about climbing the standings and more about salvaging confidence heading into the offseason.
