Jeff Brohm says the Louisville coaching setup that worked against Florida State will stay in place as the Cardinals head to Syracuse for a Saturday night ACC road game.
Louisville is coming off a 44-20 home win over Florida State and now turns to its second conference road trip of the season, taking on Syracuse at 7:30 p.m. The Cardinals enter the matchup at 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the ACC, while Syracuse is 2-3 and 0-3.
At his weekly press conference, Brohm made it clear the staff adjustments made before the Florida State game are not a one-week experiment. Offensive coordinator Brian Brohm will continue as the game-day playcaller. On the defensive side, assistant Mike Cassity, who was previously a Louisville defensive coordinator, and David Elson will keep working with Mark Ivey in the booth.
"We're going to proceed accordingly," Brohm said. "I think that it's important that everybody does their part.
So I think I've got to make sure that offensively, defensively, special teams, we're doing everything we can to win and get better. And then our offensive staff has to continue to do what they do and run the offense, execute the offense, and then we've got to continue to get better on defense.
And I just think it's important that at this point I have a full grasp of improving our team as a whole and making sure we get that done."
Brohm also said Louisville is still watching the health of running back Keyjuan Brown and offensive lineman Anwar O'neal. Their status remains uncertain heading into the week.
"Those are the two that we're concerned about that we're not sure," Brohm said. "We won't know until later in the week."
ACC Network will carry the game.

Louisville Faces A New Test After Florida State Breakthrough
Louisville gets another chance to build on its Florida State breakthrough when it turns to Syracuse this week, with the Cardinals trying to move to 4-3 and keep some momentum rolling in what has become a pivotal stretch of the season. The oddsmakers like their chances, too, with Louisville installed as a 13.5-point favorite and ESPN Analytics giving the Cardinals a 75.9 percent shot to come away with a win.
The challenge now is making sure the Seminoles game looks like a turning point instead of a one-off. Syracuse offers a different kind of test, and Louisvilles ability to back up that recent performance will say plenty about where this team really stands as it works through the middle of the schedule. Kentucky Just Raised The Stakes In Louisvilles Recruiting Battle
The recruiting tug-of-war around Louisvilles own backyard is already getting attention this fall, and JaHyde Brown has become one of the names to watch. The four-star Louisville commit had lined up multiple visits, but one of those trips has now come off the board after he canceled plans to visit Kentucky, keeping the Cardinals in the middle of a battle that still has plenty of moving parts.
Brown is not the only local prospect drawing interest either. Allen Evans, another highly ranked four-star Louisville native who once committed to the Cardinals before flipping to Vanderbilt, recently spent time at Kentucky and still has more trips ahead to Ole Miss and Auburn. For Louisville, the bigger picture is clear: the Cats are pushing hard in a recruiting lane the Cardinals usually want to control, and the next few weeks should say plenty about how firm those local ties really are. Louisville Just Gave Jeff Brohm A Real ACC Opening
Louisvilles win over Florida State did more than even the Cardinals record at 3-3. It also kept Jeff Brohms team within striking distance in a conference race that still feels wide open, and the way it happened mattered just as much as the result. A goal-line stand set the tone, Isaac Brown ripped off a 97-yard touchdown run, and Louisville turned a tense ACC night into a 44-20 statement.
As the league heads into Week 7, the updated ACC Power Rankings reflect just how much movement there still is across the conference. For Louisville, the opportunity is obvious now: the path is there if the Cardinals can stack more performances like this one, but the margin for error remains thin in a race where one good week can change the picture fast.
