Louisville basketball fans have plenty to be excited about heading into the season, and Flory Bidunga is right at the center of that buzz.
The Kansas transfer arrives with a reputation built on defense. Last season, Bidunga averaged 2.6 blocks per game, and he finished as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year while ranking top five nationally in total blocks and blocks per game in Division I basketball. That kind of rim protection is exactly why Louisville supporters are eager to see what he brings to the Cardinals.
Still, there’s been one obvious question hanging over his game: offense. More specifically, how much more can he give beyond finishing around the rim?
Earlier this week, Louisville held an open practice, and fans got a fresh look at Bidunga working on that very area. A short clip showed the 6-foot-9 center getting jumpers up, a sign that he’s already putting in work to broaden his offensive game.

The shot may not be polished yet, but the point is clear: Bidunga is trying to add more to his offensive toolbox.
That matches what Kelsey has already said about him. Earlier this offseason, he pointed to Bidunga’s upside and said there is “another level” to his offensive game.
“While there's no doubt that he's one of the best lob threats in the country, we believe there is another level to his game offensively that we're ready to unlock when he steps on campus," stated Kelsey "He is a true, two-way impactful player that we believe is only scratching the surface of his potential, and we're glad he's chosen to be a Louisville Cardinal."
For now, Bidunga’s clearest offensive strength is still his ability to finish lobs, which should help Louisville right away. But if he can keep building out the rest of his game, especially that jump shot, it could make him a much bigger threat for the Cardinals.
That’s the part Louisville fans will be watching closely as the offseason rolls on.
