Louisville’s media day may have done exactly what the Cardinals wanted it to do: turn a lot of curiosity into real buzz.
With the season only weeks away, Pat Kelsey, Flory Bidunga and Adrian Wooley all gave Louisville fans reasons to lean in. And from the sound of it, this group isn’t thinking small. The message coming out of the room was clear enough - this team believes it can chase a National Championship.
Bidunga is a big part of why that belief has taken hold so quickly. After two seasons at Kansas, he arrived in Louisville coming off his best year yet, one that earned him Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors and a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team.
When he entered the Transfer Portal, he shot straight to the top of the board as the No. 1 overall transfer and a unanimous 5-star. Kelsey wasted no time going after the athletic rim protector.
At ACC Media Days, Bidunga was asked about leaving Kansas and Bill Self, and while he had nothing positive to say about the Jayhawks, he turned the conversation quickly toward Louisville and what he thinks this year can become.
“I came here to Louisville; obviously they have a great culture, and I feel like we can do something great with Pat Kelsey," stated Bidunga earlier this week.
That kind of confidence is exactly what Louisville fans wanted to hear. Bidunga backed it up with production last season, averaging 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game while shooting 64 percent from the field.
Kelsey’s overhaul of the program has moved fast, and the transfer haul is a major reason why. Louisville landed the top-ranked transfer portal class, and Bidunga sits at the center of it.
The Cardinals also added multiple 4-star transfers, including former 5-star recruits Jackson Shelstad and Karter Knox. Frontcourt help came in the form of 4-star transfer Alvaro Folgueiras, a power forward who can space the floor, while 5-star freshman Obinna Ekezie Jr. also joined the mix.
On top of that, Louisville brought back key role player Adrian Wooley and added UNC transfer Seth Trimble.
That’s a lot of talent in one room, and Bidunga knows it. After media day, he made it clear he believes this group can do something special, which only adds to the growing optimism around the program.
For a fan base hungry for a National Championship, that kind of talk hits the right note.

On the very next play, Isaac Brown broke free for a 97-yard touchdown and Louisville never looked back, rolling to a 44-20 win behind a 35-point unanswered surge. Louisville Just Delivered The Kind Of Win That Changes Everything
Louisvilles latest trip to Florida State was the sort of game that can reset a season. The Cardinals stared down a 21-0 deficit, then flipped the whole afternoon with a 35-14 comeback built on a revived defense and a ground game that finally started to look like the identity Brian Brohm has been pushing since taking over playcalling duties.
The signature moment came on Isaac Browns record-breaking 97-yard rush, a play that captured how sharply the momentum swung once Louisville settled in. After the early scramble, the Cardinals played with more balance and force on both sides of the ball, turning a rough start into a win that felt bigger than one result and more like a turning point.
