Louisville’s offseason buzz has centered on Jeff Brohm’s upgraded offense, and one of the names drawing the most attention is Tulsa transfer Brody Foley. With the Cardinals just 34 days from opening against Ole Miss in a Week 1 showdown in Tennessee on Sept. 6, Foley is already being talked about as a potential difference-maker in a Louisville attack that many believe can push for the College Football Playoffs.
That optimism has a lot to do with what Foley brings to the table. The 6-foot-6, 260-pound tight end arrived as one of the portal’s top players at his position, ranking as high as No. 84 overall and No. 3 among tight ends. PFF’s recent list of returning ACC tight ends backed up the excitement, placing Foley at No. 2 with a 72.5 rating.
Louisville had work to do at tight end after rebuilding much of its offense, and Foley looks like the kind of addition Brohm wanted. Last season, Jaleel Skinner led the Cardinals’ tight end room with 21 catches, but the hope now is that Foley becomes a far bigger part of the passing game and a serious red-zone threat for Lincoln Kienholz to lean on.
The production is already there. Foley earned First-Team All-AAC honors after finishing with 37 catches, 527 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. That kind of output would fit right into what Louisville wants from the position, especially since the last time a Cardinals tight end came close to those numbers was Marshon Ford in 2021, when he led the team with 49 receptions for 550 yards and two touchdowns.
Foley’s consistency stood out, too. He caught at least one pass in 11 of his 12 games last season, and he delivered one of his best performances in Tulsa’s upset of Oklahoma State, when he posted five catches for 66 yards. After that, he went on to record a touchdown and at least 40 receiving yards in four of his final seven games.
If Louisville is going to make the run its fans are hoping for - back to the ACC Championship Game and into the CFP conversation - Foley will need to be a central piece of the offense. Brohm’s group has the look of one of the ACC’s top attacks, and the new tight end has the résumé to make a real impact.

Louisville Still Has One Frontcourt Move Fans Should Watch
Louisville has already spent the offseason reshaping its frontcourt, bringing in transfer Flory Bidunga and adding recruits Alvaro Folgueiras, Gabe Dynes and Obinna Ekezie Jr. The group gives the Cardinals a much different look inside, and it also suggests the staff is still willing to keep shopping if the right fit surfaces.
One name to watch is Michigan State transfer Jaxon Kohler, whose rebounding and shooting profile would fit the kind of depth Louisville could still use. There has been no official report of the Cardinals reaching out, so this is still more possibility than movement, but it is the sort of frontcourt addition that would make sense if Louisville decides it is not done building in the paint.
