Todd Gurley Viral Story Fooled Fans With Wild Payment Claim

Deck: A satirical report about Todd Gurley allegedly receiving a hefty sum from a booster has fooled many, adding a humorous twist to the ongoing debate over payments in college sports.

A fake Todd Gurley quote has been making the rounds online this weekend, and plenty of people fell for it.

The post claims the former Georgia star said a booster handed him $100,000 after he tore his ACL against Auburn in 2014. It’s not real.

The quote isn’t authentic, the report isn’t authentic, and the whole thing comes from No3 Sports, a satire account that is known for putting out fake stories. The post also pins the quote on a Pete Nakos knockoff, “Pete Nokos.”

Even with that in plain sight, the reaction online was immediate. Some users treated it like a real admission and responded accordingly.

“Why would you say this publicly lol?” one person asked.

Another wrote, “SEC has always cheated but nobody cared.”

A third user focused on the detail in the fake quote itself: “The funniest part is him specifying it was the most cash he’d ever seen like the hug didn’t already make that clear.”

Others used the post to take a shot at the current state of college football. “Hahaha this is why the SEC complaining now that EVERYONE gets paid is hilarious.

Harder to compete on a level playing field!” one comment read.

Not everyone was fooled, though. One fan recognized the setup immediately and laughed, “No3 always cooking because these are always so believable😂,”

That’s really the story here: a satire account posted a believable enough fake, people ran with it, and once again the internet proved it will believe almost anything if you dress it up with a nice photo.

Seahawks Fans Finally Have An Early Reason To Watch Dante Fowler

Dante Fowler is already giving Seattle something to watch early in camp, and for Rams fans, his move north is part of the familiar ripple effect that comes whenever a former division piece lands with a rival. The veteran outside linebacker has talked openly about being excited to join the Seahawks and said he has been preparing for the season, while head coach Mike Macdonald has already pointed to Fowlers positive impact in the opening days of training camp.

For Los Angeles, it adds one more layer of intrigue to a division that never really stays quiet in July. The Rams also have their own headline-grabbing subplot with Les Snead saying Aaron Donald is seriously considering an NFL return, but Fowlers fast start in Seattle is the more immediate reminder that familiar names can still matter in new places once camp starts sorting out roles. Rams Rookie CJ Daniels Is Forcing His Way Into A Bigger Role

A rookie wideout has been one of the more noticeable names in the first week of Rams training camp, with CJ Daniels showing the kind of versatility that can catch a coaching staff's eye early. He has flashed a physical skill set that stands out in a crowded room, and his work has also helped him develop a quick feel with Stetson Bennett as the offense starts sorting out who fits where.

The Rams still have not settled their receiver depth chart, and that leaves Daniels in the mix for one of the more valuable jobs on the roster. He is pushing for a larger role as a third wide receiver, potentially alongside Jordan Whittington, while the competition around him remains tight and every practice rep matters. [Read more 🡒]

Browns Owner Jimmy Haslam Reveals Who Really Chose Myles Garrett Trade

The Myles Garrett deal has already become one of those moves that gets picked apart from every angle, and now Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is clarifying where the call came from. He said the trade of the star defensive end to the Rams was made by general manager Andrew Berry, while also framing the return as the kind of package Cleveland has been targeting with a young player on a rookie contract and multiple draft picks.

Haslam did not downplay Garretts stature as one of the leagues elite defenders, but he made clear the Browns are choosing to lean into the future assets they received. For the Rams, it is the kind of headline-grabbing acquisition that instantly raises expectations, while for Cleveland it signals a front office intent on resetting around volume, flexibility and younger pieces.
