Rams Linked to Potential Star Receiver in Upcoming NFL Draft

Could Omar Cooper Jr. be the perfect addition to the Rams' wide receiver lineup as they look to enhance their offensive firepower?

The Los Angeles Rams have long been strategic with their draft picks, especially when it comes to wide receivers. Striking gold with Puka Nacua on Day 3 has certainly eased some pressure, but is it time for the Rams to inject more youth into their offense? If you're nodding along, you might be intrigued by what's on the horizon.

NFL draft guru Daniel Jeremiah has been singing the praises of Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. Instead of leaning on clichés, he calls Cooper Jr. "the Ramsiest wide receiver in the draft." And honestly, he might be onto something.

Standing at 6-foot-0 and weighing in at 201 pounds, Cooper was a force in 2025. He snagged 69 passes for 937 yards and 13 touchdowns, even adding 74 rushing yards and a score on just three carries. His versatility extends to special teams, where he made an impact as a freshman.

Despite his impressive stats, Cooper hasn't yet attracted the first-round buzz, making him a solid Day 2 prospect.

Rams GM Les Snead has always kept a keen eye on wide receivers since Sean McVay took over as head coach in 2017. Over nine seasons, Snead has drafted nine wideouts, including Puka Nacua in 2023, Jordan Whittington in 2024, and Konata Mumpfield in 2025. Mumpfield was even touted by ESPN's Louis Riddick as an ideal fit for LA's offense.

While Whittington and Mumpfield have carved out specific roles, neither has matched Nacua's impact. Currently, the Rams' offense looks promising with Nacua and veteran Davante Adams leading the charge. But what about the future?

Cooper has room to grow in his blocking, but his skill set is otherwise NFL-ready. With sure hands and a catch radius reminiscent of a superhero, Cooper is a reliable target with the speed to stretch defenses. His ability to line up both outside and in the slot creates constant mismatches, and his knack for tracking deep balls makes him a quarterback's dream.

His yards after catch? Simply outstanding.

While there's no guarantee Cooper will don the Rams uniform, 31 other teams are eager to find the next Nacua. But if Cooper is available on Day 2, he'd be a tempting addition for Matthew Stafford, offering another dynamic weapon to dissect defenses.

After all, Cooper is the Ramsiest wide receiver in this draft class.
