Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season is coming in hot, and the opening slate already gives us four primetime spots to circle. Seattle was the clearly superior side, and New England’s very manageable 2025 schedule helped push the Patriots into the title game. The Patriots did add some solid pieces this offseason, but the Seahawks still look like the stronger team, and they get the edge of playing at home.
Seattle’s homefield advantage is one of the league’s best, and that matters here, especially with the Seahawks’ defensive front set to line up against New England’s offensive line. That matchup leans heavily in Seattle’s direction.
Prediction: Seattle wins 24-16.
The other game highlighted for the opening week features the San Francisco 49ers visiting the Los Angeles Rams. This could be the first look at a rebuilt Rams defensive front, with Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald now part of the picture.
Los Angeles pulled off a major trade for Garrett and recently got Donald to come out of retirement. On top of that, the Rams bring back the top-ranked scoring offense from last season and have added two cornerbacks in Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffie who could end up being underrated pickups.
San Francisco has enough talent to make the playoffs in 2026, but Los Angeles looks stronger across the roster. Even so, divisional games tend to stay tight, which is why the prediction lands at Rams 27, 49ers 23.
