The Los Angeles Rams opened Week 2 with a report that mostly points in the right direction, but there are still a few names worth watching as Monday Night Football against the New York Giants gets closer.
Safety Kam Curl was limited because of an ankle injury, while linebackers Omar Speights and Nate Landman were also limited. The only Rams players who did not practice were Kam Kinchens and Davante Adams. Kinchens was out with a hamstring injury, while Adams was simply given a veteran rest day.
Kinchens is the one that stands out most. He was the only player held out on Thursday who wasn’t being rested, and he also picked up the hamstring issue in the loss to the 49ers.
Sean McVay first brought up the injury on Wednesday during the Coach McVay Show, saying it would be something the team keeps tabs on all week. If Kinchens can’t go, it could affect how the Rams deploy Quentin Lake and likely lead to more Jaylen McCollough.
Curl and Landman both exited the 49ers game in the second half. McVay said Monday that Curl was “good,” though he was dealing with some ankle soreness. Landman, meanwhile, has been working through shoulder and thumb issues, but the expectation is that he’ll be ready.
Speights is another player to monitor closely. He suffered a hip pointer against San Francisco and McVay said he’s been progressing.
“He's got some swelling there, but we'll manage him throughout the week,” said McVay. “He’s feeling better than what we had anticipated.”
If Speights can’t suit up, the Rams would likely lean on Shaun Dolac again. When Speights left last week’s game, Dolac handled the spot and held up well, even if the Rams would clearly prefer Speights there.
The Giants had their own list of limited players: cornerback Tae Banks (calf), defensive end Chauncey Golston (neck), right guard Francis Mauigoa (shoulder), linebacker Micah McFadden (neck), cornerback Greg Newsome (rib), and left tackle Andrew Thomas (ankle). Cornerback Paulson Adebo was the only Giant who did not practice, sitting out with a knee injury.
Los Angeles will keep a close eye on Mauigoa and Thomas as the week goes on. If New York has to manage issues up front, that could make life tougher for quarterback Jaxson Dart.
The Rams also officially placed Myles Garrett on injured reserve Thursday through the NFL transaction wire. For now, though, Los Angeles looks to be in solid shape heading into Week 2, with Kinchens and Speights the main situations to track. The Rams will practice Friday and Saturday before heading into Monday night.

Puka Nacuas Breakup Drama Just Took Another Public Turn
Puka Nacuas off-field situation has become a public legal matter in Los Angeles County, where Hallie Aiono filed a petition to determine parental relationship to establish the Rams receiver as the legal father of their unborn son. In the filing, Aiono also requested joint legal custody, with full physical custody for herself, along with financial support tied to the pregnancy, the birth and attorney fees.
Aiono and Nacua have both since posted on social media in ways that suggest they are moving on with new relationships, adding another visible layer to a dispute that is already playing out beyond the courtroom. For a Rams team that has relied on Nacua as one of its most important players, the football side of his year now sits alongside a personal issue that is likely to keep drawing attention until the legal process runs its course. Former Rams Receiver Charged After Deeply Embarrassing Arrest
A former Rams receivers name resurfaced this week for the wrong reason, with Stedman Bailey arrested in Florida after an incident at a Pembroke Lakes Mall entertainment complex. Police were called to the Round1 Bowling & Arcade after a witness reported Bailey and a woman engaging in explicit sexual activity, turning what should have been a routine public outing into an ugly and deeply embarrassing scene.
Bailey was later charged with one misdemeanor count of exposure of sexual organs, and he admitted to officers that his pants were down. He reportedly blamed heavy alcohol consumption for his behavior while denying that physical penetration occurred, leaving another jarring off-field headline for a player whose NFL career already feels long removed from the field. Myles Garrett Recovery Leaves Rams Waiting On One Crucial Answer
Myles Garrett is already moving in the right direction after the left-knee procedure that landed him on injured reserve, and Sean McVay said the early signs have been encouraging. Garrett has stopped using crutches and is feeling good, but the Rams still have not put a timetable on when he might be back in uniform.
The IR designation guarantees he will miss at least four games, with Week 6 the earliest possible return, but the larger issue is less about the calendar than the test ahead of him. Los Angeles has made clear it will not push Garrett back until he clears the teams practice standards, leaving one crucial answer still hanging over the situation: how quickly he can get through that next phase without any setbacks.
