The Rams missed out on Stefon Diggs, but that doesn’t mean their search for another receiver has to stop there.
Los Angeles already has Puka Nacua and Davante Adams at the top of the depth chart, and the offense as currently built still has a real shot to repeat as the NFL’s best. Even so, there’s room to sharpen the passing game, especially if the Rams want more behind their top two wideouts. If they’re looking for a move, New England Patriots receiver Kayshon Boutte looks like a logical name to circle.
Boutte has started to surface as a trade candidate, and the setup in New England makes that easy to understand. He’s entering the final year of his rookie contract, and it doesn’t appear the Patriots are planning to keep him around long term.
With AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs added this offseason, the offense figures to lean on those two in 2026 and beyond. Boutte could still give them useful production as a WR3, but if New England expects to let him walk next winter, getting value now would make sense.
For the Rams, the appeal is straightforward. Boutte is young, still entering Year 4, and he’s already put together a steady run of production.
In 2024, he had 43 catches for 589 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games. He followed that up with 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns last season, then added nine catches for 168 yards and a touchdown in four playoff games.
That kind of production would fit neatly alongside Nacua and Adams. And with the Rams clearly acting like a team pushing all its chips to the middle of the table, it’s hard to argue they should leave any reasonable upgrade on the board.
