Les Snead Faces A Rams Deadline Dilemma Fans Can Feel

With a track record of bold moves and a roster needing reinforcement, Rams GM Les Snead could once again turn to the trade market despite limited draft assets.

The Rams have already done enough dealing this season that nobody would blame Les Snead for taking a step back.

Then again, Snead has never exactly been the type to sit quietly while the trade market heats up.

Los Angeles has already swung for cornerback Trent McDuffie and edge rusher Myles Garrett, moves that suggest the Rams have been willing to chase help when the fit makes sense. So even with the deadline closing in, a quieter week would not be a shock. But it also would not be a surprise if Snead kept his phone close.

The latest name floating around is Arizona Cardinals receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. The word is the Cardinals are moving on from the underwhelming wideout, though a trade partner has not been identified and reportedly won’t be until after Arizona plays on Sunday.

And Harrison is hardly the only player changing addresses. The league has already seen plenty of movement before the November 10 cutoff, with Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy landing with the Giants, Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. going to the Cowboys, and Eagles center Cam Jurgens headed to the Ravens.

That kind of activity always raises the same question: will Snead jump again?

The Rams have reasons to think about it. Injuries have hit early, continuity has been hard to build, and the team sits .500 in a division that doesn’t give much away. A new piece or two could help steady things.

The challenge is that Los Angeles is running low on ammunition. The Rams have already dealt away three of their seven 2027 draft picks, leaving them with a second-rounder, a fourth, fifth, and sixth. That is the lowest value of any NFL team in next year’s draft.

And with more than 24 Rams in the last year of their contracts, parting with even more picks is not exactly the cleanest long-term play.

Still, “not ideal” has never meant “off the table” for Snead. He has a history of being aggressive and hard to pin down, and he will move if he thinks the player is the right match for the roster. The Rams have been in a similar spot before, including the 2022 season, when they tried to bolster an injury-ravaged team by going after then-Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey or edge rusher Brian Burns.

The Panthers turned down both offers, and the Rams had to patch things together by developing rookies on their own.

So yes, Snead may stand pat. But if the right player comes available, don’t rule out another Rams trade before the deadline.

Aaron Donald's Rams Return Comes With One Big Bills Concern

Aaron Donald was back on the practice field Friday, a strong sign the Rams are preparing to have their centerpiece defensive tackle available for Monday Night Football against the Bills. Donald missed Week 4 with a back injury, but his full participation suggested the team is moving toward getting him back into the lineup after a cautious week of ramp-up work.

Sean McVay said Donald and other Rams were being built up gradually in practice with Monday in mind, a reminder that simply getting him back is only part of the equation. Los Angeles also plans to manage his workload carefully, balancing the need for Donalds impact against the realities of his injury and age as the Rams get ready for one of their tougher early-season tests. Rams Return Job Suddenly Looks Like A Real Problem Again

The Rams punt return picture, which looked settled only a few weeks ago, has turned murky again after Xavier Smith was released following three games and quickly landed on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad. Los Angeles has turned to Alex Bachman in the role since then, but his recent work has not quite matched what the team needs from a spot that can quietly swing field position and help stabilize a game plan.

With the answer no longer obvious, the Rams may have to keep looking inside the roster for a better fit. Dean Connors, Tutu Atwell and Max Klare are among the players who could be asked to step in, and the uncertainty alone is a reminder that special teams can become a problem fast when the return job stops producing. Rams Get A New Opening As Bills Enter Monday Shorthanded

Buffalos injury report has created a little more uncertainty around a Rams matchup that already carried some weight after the Bills loss to New England. Head coach Joe Brady confirmed that wide receiver Joshua Palmer and defensive lineman Ed Oliver will miss the game, trimming two important pieces from a roster trying to steady itself early in the week.

The Bills still have some moving parts beyond those absences, with DJ Moore and Dee Alford listed as questionable while Christian Benford is set to play. For the Rams, it adds another layer to a Week 5 trip that now comes against a Buffalo team trying to regroup while managing a shorter deck than it expected. [Read more 🡒]
