Kelly Stafford’s latest post after the Rams’ overtime loss to the Bills had plenty of family charm, but the timing made one line stand out.
Stafford was at Monday Night Football to watch Matthew Stafford throw for 383 yards and three touchdowns in a game Los Angeles still ended up losing in overtime. Four days later, she shared photos from the night, including the couple’s four daughters dressed in Rams gear. Her caption, though, pointed straight at the kicking issue that helped define the night.
“God had a different plan than having that ball go through the uprights, but whatever the plan is, we trust it. ❤️ The plan does, however, always include cute fits 🥰,” she wrote.
The New York Post said the message was aimed at Harrison Mevis, who is now gone from Los Angeles. Mevis missed a 50-yard try in the first quarter and then had a potential game-winner blocked in overtime. The Rams released him the next day and brought in Blake Grupe from the New York Jets’ practice squad.
Mevis’ exit ended a brief run in Los Angeles after a much better finish to the previous season. He had made 12 of 13 field-goal attempts during the 2025 regular season and hit all 39 extra points. This season, though, he went only five for nine on field goals through five games, and all four misses came from beyond 40 yards.
Kelly never mentioned Mevis by name, but the reference to the ball not going through the uprights made the point pretty clear. Now the Rams move on with Grupe and prepare to face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Rams Just Caught A Break In This NFC West Matchup
Arizonas backfield took a hit this week, and the Rams now get a little more breathing room in a division matchup that already had plenty riding on it. Jeremiyah Love has been ruled out for Week 6 with an ankle injury, adding another frustrating health setback to a rookie season that has been interrupted by injuries and kept him out of practice this week.
For Los Angeles, the absence changes the look of what Arizona can do on the ground and shifts more of the workload toward Tyler Allgeier. There is still no clear timetable for Loves return, which makes this more than a one-game issue for the Cardinals and a potentially meaningful opening for a Rams defense trying to gain an edge in the NFC West race. Rams Just Caught A Break In The Cardinals Passing Game
The Cardinals have moved on from Marvin Harrison Jr., sending the receiver to the Texans after a stretch of limited production this season. For the Rams, it is the kind of development that can quietly matter in a division race, because Harrison had been one of Arizonas more dangerous options against Los Angeles and his departure removes a familiar problem from the matchup.
Los Angeles still has to deal with an Arizona passing game that will look different, but the trade changes the way defenses can be attacked and the way attention gets distributed. With Harrison gone, the Rams can spend more of their focus on the Cardinals other weapons, and that could be a meaningful edge when the teams meet again. [Read more 🡒]
Rams Suddenly Have A Tackle Depth Question Worth Watching
Keagen Trost is back at practice after opening the season on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, giving the Rams a little more flexibility in a spot that suddenly looks worth tracking. The rookie tackles return comes at a useful time, with the team still navigating the left side of its line and trying to keep options open as the season moves deeper into October.
Alaric Jacksons suspension has been reduced from two games to one, so veteran David Quessenberry is set to start in Week 6 before Jackson is expected back in Week 7. For Los Angeles, Trosts return does not solve the immediate issue, but it adds another body to a tackle room that could use the extra help if injuries or availability become a factor again.
