Former NFL wide receiver Stedman Bailey was arrested in Florida after police say he was involved in a public sex incident inside a shopping mall arcade.
Pembroke Pines police officers responded to the Round1 Bowling & Arcade at Pembroke Lakes Mall, where a witness reportedly saw Bailey and a woman, Karina Manderson, engaging in explicit sexual activity at the bar. According to the report, the witness asked them to stop, and Bailey then pulled his pants up and walked away slowly. The establishment’s manager also gave officers security surveillance footage that documented the encounter.
Both Bailey and Manderson were taken into custody and formally charged with one misdemeanor count of exposure of sexual organs. During interviews, Bailey admitted his pants were down and said his poor decision-making was tied to heavy alcohol consumption. He also insisted that actual physical penetration did not occur during the incident.
If convicted, Bailey faces up to one year in county jail.
Bailey’s football career once looked like it was headed in a very different direction. He starred at West Virginia from 2010 to 2012 and put together a huge college résumé, finishing with 210 receptions for 3,218 receiving yards and a school-record 41 career receiving touchdowns. His best season came in 2012, when he caught 25 touchdown passes.
The St. Louis Rams picked him in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, and he played three seasons in the league, appearing in 38 games. His NFL career ended with 59 catches for 843 yards and two touchdowns after a violent shooting incident in 2015.
