The Eagles are headed into Week 5 in London carrying a pile of injuries that keeps getting heavier by the day, and now Jalen Hurts is on the report too.
Hurts has joined a list that already includes some of Philadelphia’s biggest names. He’s dealing with a calf issue, though he is set to play against the Jaguars. Still, it’s another sign that the Eagles’ usual injury luck has taken a sharp turn.
That’s been the story around this team for weeks. Saquon Barkley will miss another game after tweaking his hamstring in Week 4 against the Rams.
He left that game early, didn’t return, and did not practice this week. Philadelphia ruled him out for London, and while the injury is not expected to be long-term, the Eagles will be without their top offensive weapon.
The backfield depth is even thinner now because Tank Bigsby is headed to injured reserve with a core muscle injury. He’ll miss at least four games, and Ian Rapoport reported that Bigsby is hopeful to return “in six weeks or shorter.”
Devonta Smith is also out. The Eagles’ top receiver picked up a hamstring injury before Week 4 and has already been ruled out again for Week 5 after missing practice all week. His absence leaves a major hole in the passing game, even after Darius Cooper helped pick up some of the slack against the Rams.
On the other side of the ball, Jonathan Greenard left Week 4 with an ankle injury, but that one appears less severe. Rapoport called it “day-to-day,” and the Eagles listed him as questionable for the London game. Ashlyn Sullivan reported that Greenard said he was still day-to-day as of Friday.
Dallas Goedert is trending back the other way. The tight end has been out since Week 2 with a knee injury, but he practiced fully on Friday and appears to be nearing a return. Philadelphia has been leaning on Zach Ertz and others in his place.
The offensive line remains another concern. With Lane Johnson retired and Cam Jurgens traded to the Ravens, Drew Kendall was expected to take on a bigger role at center, but he won’t be available in Week 5.
The 2025 fifth-round pick did not practice Friday because of a knee injury and has been ruled out. The Eagles have been working with Jake Majors at center.
Quinyon Mitchell also popped up on the injury list after leaving Week 4 with a knee issue, but he should be fine to go. He practiced in full Friday, and the injury does not appear serious enough to keep him out.
Here’s the full list of Eagles dealing with injuries in some form, according to ESPN: Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, Devonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Jihaad Campbell, Dallas Goedert, Marcus Epps, Jonathan Greenard, Zack Baun, Hollywood Brown, Drew Kendall, Tank Bigsby, Fred Johnson, Landon Dickerson, Eli Stowers, Andre Sam, Jakorian Bennett, Grant Calcaterra, Johnny Wilson and Tucker Large. The players marked with an asterisk are expected to play in Week 5.
After the Jaguars in London, Philadelphia’s schedule doesn’t get much softer. The Eagles are set to face the Panthers, Cowboys, Commanders, Giants and Steelers over the next several weeks as they try to get this roster back together.

Rams Fans Know The Risk In 49ers' Xavier Smith Move
The Rams are getting a familiar name back in the division picture, with Xavier Smith now on San Franciscos practice squad after a brief stop in Los Angeles. Smith brought obvious speed as a return specialist for the Rams and flashed enough playmaking ability to make the 49ers interested, especially with their special teams trying to steady itself after a shaky start to the season.
For Rams fans, the move comes with an immediate sense of recognition because Smiths time in Los Angeles always seemed to carry both promise and risk. He could change field position in a hurry, but his inconsistency made him hard to trust in the biggest moments, and his most visible struggles are still part of the memory bank as he heads to a rival trying to sort out its own return game. Rams Win Just Put The Eagles In A Dangerous NFC Spot
The Rams Week 4 win did more than add another mark to the schedule for Philadelphia, which now sits at 2-2 and has work to do to steady its season. For a team with obvious roster needs, especially at wide receiver, the loss has only sharpened the conversation around how the Eagles might respond if they want to keep pace in a crowded NFC race.
One name already being floated is Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, a player with past production but limited output this season. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report listed Philadelphia as a possible landing spot, and while nothing about the connection is close to concrete, it speaks to where the Eagles find themselves now: trying to sort out whether a midseason move could help them avoid letting a strong start slip into something more precarious. Matthew Stafford Has A Massive Opportunity Against Buffalo If Rams Cash In
Matthew Stafford and the Rams head into Week 5 with a chance to lean on the kind of passing game that can put real stress on Buffalos defense. The Bills have been vulnerable in pass coverage, and Los Angeles has the pieces to test every layer of it if the offense is sharp from the start. Stafford has been in enough big-game spots to know when a matchup is there to be attacked, and this one sets up as one of those weeks where the Rams can let the quarterback dictate the pace.
Puka Nacuas return only raises the ceiling for what Los Angeles can do through the air, especially against a Buffalo secondary that has had its own issues settling in. If the Rams are efficient on early downs and keep Stafford comfortable, this has the feel of a game where their passing attack can keep the Bills on the back foot all afternoon. The opportunity is obvious. The question is whether Los Angeles will cash in on it before Buffalo finds a way to steady itself. [Read more 🡒]
