Dodgers Fans React To Tarik Skubal Trade Report

Despite missing out on Tarik Skubal, the Brewers' strategic restraint at the trade deadline paid off with a World Series triumph, showcasing the intricacies behind their calculated decision-making.

After the trade deadline passed, the Brewers took plenty of heat for not landing Tarik Skubal. But new reporting shows Milwaukee was far more aggressive than plenty of people realized.

Scott Harris and the Tigers ended up sending Skubal to the Dodgers for outfielder Zyhir Hope and pitchers River Ryan and Brady Smith. In the wake of that deal, the Brewers were left facing the familiar question of when they would finally make a major splash, the kind of move that once came with their 2008 trade for CC Sabathia.

The answer, as it turns out, is that they tried.

Andy McCullough of The Athletic reported that Milwaukee made a serious push for Skubal, and the offer was a strong one. The Brewers were unwilling to include starter Logan Henderson, which had already been known, but they did put together a package built around infielder Luis Peña, their No. 2 prospect, utility man Jett Williams, their No. 10 prospect, and outfielder Josh Adamczewski, their No. 3 prospect.

“From there, the Brewers brass received radio silence until that evening when they saw Dodgers Double-A outfielder Zyhir Hope was scratched,” McCullough wrote. “Soon after, Harris called [Matt] Arnold to let him know Skubal would not be a Brewer.”

Arnold made clear he respected the communication. “I appreciated the s- out of that,” Arnold said. “He was very transparent.”

The difference, according to the reporting, was pitching. Tigers fans had long believed Harris would need a pitcher to be swayed, and the Dodgers delivered two, with Ryan at least technically major league-ready after dealing with a hamstring issue. As for Milwaukee’s offer, the only piece that could have plausibly helped Detroit right away was Williams, though he has been struggling some at Triple-A.

The postseason only added another layer to the story. Starting pitching barely mattered across the board, with Jacob Misiorowski failing to go more than six innings in any start and needing until his third outing to clear five innings. Skubal worked six and five innings in his two starts before the Dodgers were swept out of the postseason, reducing the whole deal to a simple tally: three prospects for 11 Tarik Skubal innings.

For Milwaukee, the larger takeaway is easy. The Brewers made a real bid, they didn’t get Skubal, and they still won a World Series without him.

Rams Trade Deadline Plans May Hinge On One McVay Reality

Sean McVays latest comments offered a familiar kind of midseason Rams uncertainty, the sort that can shape everything from Sundays rotation to the trade deadline. Los Angeles is hoping to get key injured players back within the next month, and that timeline matters because the front office is still weighing how aggressive to be as the deadline approaches.

McVay made it clear that those injury statuses will help determine whether the Rams go shopping or stand pat, which is the real hinge point here. If the roster gets healthier soon, the pressure to add help eases. If not, the Rams may have to decide whether to trust the current group or look for outside help before the deadline closes. Rams Are Still Waiting On Myles Garrett For One Frustrating Reason

Around the league, the trade market has been moving fast enough to make every big swing look better or worse by the week. The Seahawks, 49ers and Bears have all made headline-grabbing additions, and the Rams are still waiting for their own major move to pay off after landing Myles Garrett.

What makes the delay so frustrating is the context around the deal. Chicagos package for Jeffery Simmons was in the same neighborhood as what Los Angeles gave up for Garrett, but the situations are not the same, and the Rams are living through the riskier version right now. Garrett remains on injured reserve and has not yet gotten back on the field, leaving Los Angeles with the kind of wait that can make an aggressive trade feel a lot less certain in the short term. Myles Garretts Offseason Support For Chloe Kim Is Turning Heads

Chloe Kims recent conversation about her ADHD diagnosis offered a more personal look at life away from the competition, and it also put Myles Garrett in the spotlight for the way he has handled the adjustment. Kim described how the diagnosis has changed the way the two communicate, along with some of the everyday routines and small accommodations that have come with it. It was the kind of candid update that gives a little more texture to a relationship that has mostly been viewed from a distance.

Garrett, meanwhile, is navigating his own recovery after knee surgery, so both athletes are managing major parts of their lives at once. For the Rams star edge rusher, the offseason has clearly been about more than rehab and training, with Kims remarks suggesting his support has been steady through a process that can be as much about learning as it is about treatment. Kim continues her athletic career, and the overlap in their schedules and challenges makes this a notable subplot for anyone following Garrett beyond the football field. [Read more 🡒]
