Adams has been a Taco Bell brand spokesperson since 2022, and the campaign leaned hard into the joke that he wanted an in-home franchise for ad shoots. That bit took on a life of its own, especially as fans saw the fast-food chain play along every time Adams moved to a new team. Taco Bell even posted fake real estate listings for his “home,” complete with “sauce packets in every drawer.”
The confusion got a fresh push during Adams’ appearance on the Up & Adams Show, where host Kay Adams brought up the viral Taco Bell backdrop that looked like a full restaurant. The visual was convincing enough to keep the rumor alive, but it was all part of the stunt.
While on the show, Adams also made sure to give a major shoutout to Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie. He said, “I think he’s the best corner in the league.” He added that he was excited to face him and called McDuffie “a dog.”
Kay Adams then joked about whether McDuffie should get the same kind of Taco Bell treatment, asking, “Can we get him a purple card?” Davante Adams agreed that they absolutely needed to get the defender one.
The truth is simpler than the internet version: Taco Bell created a pop-up called “Davante’s House” with a functional counter inside SoFi Stadium. Davante Adams doesn’t actually have a restaurant in his residence, but he’s clearly willing to keep the joke going.
