Davante Adams knows exactly where he is in his NFL life cycle, and he’s not pretending otherwise. At 33, the Rams wideout is heading into his 13th season, and he’s leaning into the reality that the mileage matters now.
“I battle with that sometimes, I do,” Adams said Sunday when asked about getting older. “I am the old man and I feel young because I can still go out there and do young man stuff, but then my body don’t necessarily feel the same way it’s done as it was back at Puka [Nacua’s] age.
“At the end of the day, what’s 13 times seven? Because this is dog years out here.
It’s a whole different ball game than living years. If I can continue to play at a high level, I’ll deal with the other stuff whether it’s talking about me being old or a little bit of extra pain.
It’s just a little extra work you have to do to come out of it.”
That extra work hasn’t stopped him from producing like one of the league’s elite. In 2025, Adams led the NFL with 14 touchdown catches for the third time, and he did it while missing three regular-season games.
There’s also a little more edge to his situation than age alone. The Rams, according to the source material, explored a trade for A.J.
Brown, a move that would have sent Adams elsewhere again. For now, that never happened, and Adams remains in Los Angeles.
That matters because he’s still stacking up the kind of numbers that keep a Hall of Fame case alive and growing. He’s a six-time Pro Bowler, a three-time first-team All-Pro, seventh all-time in receiving touchdowns, 16th in catches and 26th in receiving yards. If he keeps playing, those rankings can keep climbing.
And if the Rams give him the right runway, Adams may have his best shot yet at adding a Super Bowl ring to the resume.
