Luka Doncic used Instagram to send a deeply personal message to his daughters as he navigates a custody battle with his former fiancée, Anamaria Goltes.
Doncic shared several photos of Gabriela and Olivia, and paired them with a note written first in Slovenian. In English, it read: “G+O, no matter where in the world your Dad is, there is not a day you are not in my heart.
Wherever I go, they are always with me. I love you both!
❤️❤️,” he wrote.
The post drew plenty of reaction from NBA fans, many of whom praised Doncic for the way he presents himself as a father and reacted to the bond he showed with his daughters.
Along with the message, Doncic posted images from time spent with the girls doing everyday activities - swimming, making jewelry from beads, walking in the park, and letting Gabriela braid his hair.
The timing of the post comes with Doncic in the middle of a legal dispute over custody. He is battling Goltes over Gabriela and Olivia, and some fans suggested the message may also serve to show how important his time with them is. Goltes is reportedly trying to limit Doncic’s access to the children, having petitioned a court in Slovenia for $50 million in child support and maintenance while also seeking to reduce his custody from two days to one day a week.
Doncic spent almost the entire summer in Slovenia, including hosting a trip for the team, and is now heading back to the United States as Lakers media day nears. With that distance ahead of him, the September 20 post landed as a reminder of what matters most to him away from basketball.
