Luka Doncic, the dynamic Lakers star, recently announced that he has ended his engagement to longtime partner Anamaria Goltes amidst a challenging custody dispute involving their two daughters. In a heartfelt statement, Doncic expressed his deep love for his daughters and his commitment to their well-being.
“I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible,” Doncic shared. “So I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement. Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”
The situation took a turn when Goltes filed a petition in California seeking child support and attorney fees, a move that reportedly caught Doncic by surprise. The two have a long history, having known each other since their youth and starting their relationship in 2016.
Doncic proposed in 2023, the same year their first daughter, Gabriela, was born while he was playing for the Mavericks. Their second daughter, Olivia, arrived in December 2025 in Slovenia, prompting Doncic to miss two games earlier this season to be there for her birth.
At 27, Doncic is in the midst of his first full season under a three-year contract extension with the Lakers.
