The Lakers are back in the middle of another reset, and Luka Doncic is suddenly the name hovering over everything that comes next.

“[Nikola Jokic] can profess his loyalty to the [Denver] Nuggets, there's still going to be teams that are positioning themselves and monitoring that. ... It's the same thing with Luka. He's done nothing but express optimism and excitement ... but it's not that long-term of an extension,” MacMahon said.
That’s where Golden State enters the conversation. Lake Show Life’s Colin Keane laid out the idea that if Doncic ever grows unhappy and looks for a new home, the Warriors could make a serious run at him.
“We hear about it constantly: The Warriors have no post-Stephen Curry succession plan in place. Well, this would be it.
Golden State has built an incredible product and fanbase during the Curry era. Letting that all fizzle out once Steph hangs 'em up would be a shame.
But injecting interest back into this city with a Luka trade? That would be ideal,” Keane wrote.
For the Warriors, the appeal is obvious. A deal like that would give them a star pairing of Doncic and Curry, while also setting up a possible future face of the franchise once Curry’s career ends.
Doncic has earned $198 million so far in his career, and with the Lakers entering another major transition, Golden State could be waiting if the situation in Los Angeles turns messy. The roster picture in L.A. remains unsettled, and if the warning signs pile up, Doncic could decide it’s time to move on.
