The Lakers and Clippers brought their usual edge to Summer League on Tuesday night, and it showed long before the final buzzer. Los Angeles walked away with a 99-85 win, but the game turned chippy in the second quarter and never really lost that bite.
The flashpoint came late in the second when Adou Thiero was flying in for a transition dunk with the Lakers ahead 39-30. Clippers forward Norchad Omier stepped in underneath him and sent him to the floor with a hard foul. Thiero popped right back up, but the contact quickly spilled into something bigger.
As Lakers teammates moved in, Arthur Kaluma and Chris Manon shoved Omier away. Omier answered by pushing Manon from behind, and that brought players from both sides into the mix before things were separated.
Omier, who had already been assessed a flagrant 1 foul, was later hit with a technical. Clippers guard Riley Kugel also received a technical, while Kaluma was the lone Lakers player penalized with one.
The scuffle seemed to sharpen the Lakers’ edge the rest of the half. Even though Kaluma and Thiero both missed their free throws after the incident, Los Angeles finished the quarter strong.
Over the final four minutes before halftime, the Lakers outscored the Clippers 15-8 and took a 54-38 lead into the break. Anton Watson and Cameron Carr helped drive that push.
The Clippers made a better showing of the second half, and they had a solid comeback effort in the fourth quarter. But the Lakers’ 22-point cushion entering the final period was too steep to erase.
Carr led the way for the Lakers with 23 points and two assists on 8-of-18 shooting. Manon added 17 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Kaluma finished with 15 points, four assists and 3-of-6 shooting from deep. Thiero chipped in 13 points, six rebounds, one steal and one block.
For the Clippers, Kobe Sanders posted 18 points, six rebounds and two assists, and Keaton Wagler added 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. Nico Martinelli gave them 12 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, but it wasn’t enough to swing the game.
The win moved the Lakers to 3-0 at Summer League, and they’ll take that record into Thursday’s matchup against Caleb Wilson and the Chicago Bulls, who are 1-2.

Lakers Legend Is Pushing For One More Offseason Move
The Lakers have spent the offseason steadily filling out the roster, bringing back Austin Reaves and adding Walker Kessler, Collin Sexton, Kevon Looney, Quentin Grimes and Ziaire Williams. With one open roster spot still available for the 2026-27 season and contract talks continuing around the league, the front office has left itself a little flexibility even after making a long list of additions.
That extra room is exactly why Mychal Thompson has been publicly pushing for one more move, arguing that the Lakers should keep looking for another difference-maker before the roster is set. The former Laker sees an opportunity for a young, athletic piece to step into a favorable situation, and he has made it clear that he believes there is still a fit worth chasing as the team weighs its final options. Adou Thiero Is Forcing His Way Into A Crucial Lakers Debate
Adou Thiero has spent Summer League making a case that he belongs in the Lakers conversation, and not just as another young body filling out the roster. Through four appearances, he has flashed the kind of size, activity and defensive versatility that can matter for a team trying to sharpen its identity around the edges. The offense has been encouraging enough, too, with Thiero averaging 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists while showing the athletic pop that has helped him stand out.
The bigger question is how that translates to a role once the games count. Thieros shooting remains the obvious hurdle, especially after going 0-for-12 from beyond the arc, but the Lakers have also had reason to look at him through a defensive lens, with JJ Redick pushing him toward a point-of-attack job. His best showing came against Oklahoma City, when he filled up the box score with 20 points, four rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocks, and that kind of two-way impact is exactly what keeps this debate alive. Lakers Kuminga Chase Is Suddenly Stuck On One Major Offseason Twist
The Lakers have kept Johnathan Kuminga on their radar as they look to add another wing, but the path to a deal has not been simple. Kuminga declined a team option with the Atlanta Hawks and is weighing offers, while Los Angeles has been working through different ways to make the numbers fit and has already put forward contracts in the neighborhood of $10 million annually.
The catch is that Kumingas asking price appears to be much closer to $20 million a season, which leaves a real gap between the sides. Los Angeles is also looking at sign-and-trade possibilities as it tries to create a workable route, and the market around him still has enough moving parts that the Lakers are not operating in a vacuum.
