LeBron James continues to impress in his 23rd NBA season, though he's been sidelined recently due to minor injuries. These setbacks have kept him out of the lineup, including a key game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Lakers head coach JJ Redick remains optimistic, labeling James as day-to-day.
Redick shared, "He did his on-court shooting before our film and walkthrough and probably just needs a couple more days. Sometimes day-to-day means two days, and sometimes it can mean five or six days. He’s day-to-day."
Acknowledging the challenges of managing James' health at this stage, Redick noted, "We obviously want him in the lineup. With the recent schedule, you never know how his body is gonna respond.
It wouldn’t have surprised me if he needed a day or two. He wants to be out there, and so do we."
Despite James' absence, the Lakers secured a victory over the Timberwolves, marking their third consecutive win without him. The team has shown resilience with a 10-2 record when Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves play without James.
Redick elaborated on the team's success without James: "When all three are on the court, it’s about what they’re comfortable doing. Luka is used to having the ball, and AR is rising to an All-Star level. The human struggle for balance is real, but we’re starting to get it."
He continued, "There’s a clear pecking order with Luka and AR. We’ve seen positive signs, and LeBron understands the importance of having Luka as the engine. All he wants is to impact winning."
Doncic and Reaves have become the focal points of the Lakers' offense, but James remains an integral part of their strategy. While the "Big 3" haven't fully gelled yet, their combined talent and basketball IQ are expected to pay dividends.
Off the court, James has voiced his frustration with inconsistent officiating. He and his teammates often express their concerns, and James hasn't shied away from critiquing the refs, adding another layer to his challenging season.
