Dillon Brooks Doubles Down on LeBron Criticism, Makes His Case for All-Star Consideration
Dillon Brooks has never been one to shy away from the spotlight-or the smoke. The Phoenix Suns guard has built a reputation as one of the NBA’s most vocal competitors, and this season, he’s kept that same energy. Whether it’s on the court or off it, Brooks plays with an edge, and once again, that edge is pointed squarely at LeBron James.
During a recent appearance on a livestream with popular streamer N3on, Brooks didn’t mince words when asked who he thought was the most overrated player in the league right now. His answer? LeBron James.
“I would probably say LeBron right now,” Brooks said. “I feel like he’s overrated right now.
I feel like his time is coming to an end. You got to pass that on to one of our world guys like Luka or Shai.”
It’s not the first time Brooks has taken a swipe at the Lakers legend. Their on-court rivalry has been simmering for a while now, and earlier this season, it boiled over when Brooks was ejected for chest-bumping James during a game. That moment, like many in their history, was charged with intensity-and according to Brooks, it was just part of the job.
“When you’re on the floor, and it’s between those four lines, it doesn’t matter if you’re LeBron James or my grandmother,” Brooks said. “It’s war from when the whistle sounds to the end of the game.”
Love him or hate him, Brooks is unapologetically himself. He’s leaned into the villain role, but he’s also backing it up with his play.
In his first season with the Suns, he’s averaging 21.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 44.5% from the field. He’s defending at a high level and bringing a physicality that fits perfectly with Phoenix’s competitive identity.
And now, with the All-Star break approaching, Brooks is starting to hear his name in the conversation. Charles Barkley recently said Brooks deserves a serious look for an All-Star nod-a sentiment that hasn’t gone unnoticed.
“Yeah, I feel like I’m playing at that level,” Brooks said. “Ultimately, I’m not gonna beg for it or do anything like that. If it comes, it comes.”
But even as he makes his own case, Brooks was quick to shine the spotlight on his teammate, Devin Booker.
“Our real All-Star is Book,” Brooks added. “He’s been leading us this whole time, and he deserves to be in that All-Star talk and being a reserve on that All-Star team.”
Brooks’ confidence isn’t just talk-it’s part of what’s made him such a key piece in Phoenix’s rotation this year. He’s giving the Suns grit, scoring punch, and a defensive presence that’s been critical in tough matchups. And while his comments about LeBron are bound to stir debate, they’re also a window into the competitive fire that fuels him.
Whether or not he lands in the All-Star Game, Brooks is making sure his presence is felt-on the court and in the conversation.
