Austin Reaves Fires Back On Luka MVP Snub

Despite Luka Doncic's record-breaking performances, his MVP candidacy remains surprisingly overshadowed, sparking passionate support from teammate Austin Reaves.

Luka Doncic is on an absolute tear for the Los Angeles Lakers, adding another dazzling 40+ point performance to his impressive streak. With his latest feat, Doncic now finds himself in legendary company, matching Michael Jordan's achievement of averaging 40 points over six games. In the Lakers' 116-99 victory against the Brooklyn Nets, Doncic dropped 41 points, leaving fans and teammates in awe.

Austin Reaves, who chipped in with a stellar performance of his own, couldn't help but advocate for Doncic's MVP case during a post-game interview. "He continues to drop in the MVP race, which is insane to me," Reaves remarked. "I guess it don't really matter, maybe he's gotta score 60, I don't know."

Doncic was in fine form, shooting 15-for-25 from the field and knocking down five from beyond the arc. He also contributed across the board with eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Reaves complemented Doncic's efforts with 26 points, hitting four threes, and adding eight rebounds and five assists to his stat line.

Despite his remarkable scoring run, Doncic expressed frustration over his standing in the MVP race. While Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder holds the top spot, with the Spurs' Victor Wembanyama following closely, Doncic finds himself in third place according to Draft Kings odds.

Reflecting on his position in the MVP rankings after the win, Doncic said, “The better I play, the more I go down in rankings, so I don’t know what more I can do.”

Doncic's season has been nothing short of spectacular. He recently put up a season-high 60 points in a thrilling 134-126 win against the Heat and recorded a 51-point game in a 142-130 victory over the Bulls earlier this month. His scoring prowess has been a highlight throughout March, as he continues to elevate his game to new heights.
