Kings Home Opener Will Hit Fans Right In Franchise History

The LA Kings pull out all the stops for their 60th anniversary with a fan festival, music performances, and exclusive giveaways at the 2026-27 home opener.

The LA Kings will turn their 2026-27 home opener into a full-scale celebration on Tuesday, October 6, with a night built around the start of the team’s 60th anniversary season.

Puck drop against the Florida Panthers is set for 7:00 p.m. PT at Crypto.com Arena, where the Kings will open a 42-game home schedule in downtown Los Angeles.

Before the game even starts, the organization is staging an Opening Night Fan Festival presented by American Express at L.A. LIVE beginning at 3:30 p.m.

PT. The free, family-friendly event will include live entertainment, interactive games, food and beverage options, merchandise booths, and appearances from the team’s Ice Crew and mascot Bailey.

Fans heading into the arena for the evening opener will get a retro goalie mask giveaway when doors open at 5:30 p.m. PT. The design is meant to nod to the masks worn by Rogie Vachon and Terry Sawchuk in the early years of the franchise while blending in the Kings’ current color scheme and branding.

The pregame show will also feature a new wrinkle from the supporters’ group Royal Army, which will unveil a signature moment during team introductions in partnership with the Kings’ game presentation staff. The club is also launching its “First Look” series with “Toxicity” by System of a Down, and each Saturday home game during the 2026-27 season will bring a new music video to introduce the Kings to the ice.

Matt Sallee and Kevin Olusola of Pentatonix will perform the national anthem together at center ice, adding another spotlight to the opening-night production.

The entertainment continues into the first intermission, when LA band Rooney will perform on the LA Kings Entertainment Stage on the arena’s Upper Concourse Terrace.

At 6:00 p.m., the Kings will unveil a new Hall of Fame display on the main concourse near the Team LA Store. The exhibit will feature artifacts from the team’s 60-year history, plaques for each Hall of Fame member, and a new interactive photo set with likenesses of Kings icons from throughout the franchise’s past.

Quinton Byfield Faces The Kings Challenge That Could Define Their Next Era

Quinton Byfield has become one of the more important pieces of the Kings present and future, and the reason is familiar to anyone who has followed his path. The 24-year-old forward had to work through early injuries before settling in as a dependable two-way player, one whose play-driving numbers have helped make him a cornerstone rather than just a promising name.

With Anze Kopitar retired, the next phase of Byfields career is no longer theoretical. He has stayed in contact with Kopitar as he prepares for a larger role, and the Kings are counting on him to keep growing into the kind of player who can help define the next era. What that looks like in practice will matter just as much as the production, because this is where expectation turns into responsibility. [Read more 🡒]

Kings Face One Early Concern In Peter Laviolettes New System

Defense has been the clear priority all through Kings training camp under new coach Peter Laviolette, but the challenge has been figuring out how much freedom the team can take on while still keeping its structure intact. Laviolette is asking for a more aggressive, attack-minded approach, and the final preseason game offered at least a glimpse of what that might look like, with the blue line helping drive offense and the group showing some real confidence moving the puck.

Opening night, though, brought the reminder that the transition is going to take time. The loss to Colorado exposed how difficult it can be to stay organized while pushing the pace, and for a team that has built its identity on defending well, finding the right balance is already an early test in Laviolettes system.
