Blues Get Big Robert Thomas Return Boost

Robert Thomas returns to boost the Blues, while the Kings face setbacks and the Flames eye NCAA talent.

As the Blues continue their push for a Wild Card spot in the West, they're getting a boost with the return of a crucial player. Robert Thomas is back in the lineup after missing Thursday’s game due to an upper-body injury he picked up earlier this week against Washington.

Despite being the subject of trade rumors before the deadline, Thomas stayed put in St. Louis.

He's been a standout for the Blues, leading the team in scoring with 16 goals and 30 assists over 53 games, even after missing 18 games due to injuries.

Shifting our focus to the Kings, winger Andrei Kuzmenko is back on the ice, working his way back from a meniscus injury. According to Zach Dooley from LA Kings Insider, Kuzmenko has been out for the past month and was initially expected to miss the rest of the regular season.

While he's skating earlier than expected, the team is still planning as if he won't return until the playoffs, assuming they qualify. In his first full season with Los Angeles, Kuzmenko has tallied 13 goals and 12 assists in 52 games, showing promise for the future.

Meanwhile, with Cornell's recent exit from the NCAA tournament, the Flames are making moves to secure young talent. They've dispatched two front office staff to meet with Jonathan Castagna, aiming to get him signed, as reported by Eric Francis of Sportsnet.

Castagna, who came to Calgary as part of the MacKenzie Weegar trade, had an impressive season with 15 goals and 19 assists in 34 games. Pat Steinberg from Sportsnet 960 adds that the Flames have two contract slots open, and they’re keen on having Castagna fill one, with his potential deal starting this season.
