Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts has some heartwarming news to share: the arrival of his third child has added to his growing family. Betts and his wife, Brianna Hammonds, have been eagerly awaiting this moment.
During the offseason, Betts explained that he would miss the World Baseball Classic due to the birth of his child. “I can’t now,” he mentioned.
“My wife, we’re having the kid. The baby’s due right in the middle of the WBC.
She said she would divorce me if I wasn’t there for the kid.”
Betts is already a proud father to Kynlee Ivory Betts, seven, and Kaj Lyn Betts, who is two. He often shares how his children inspire him and add an extra layer of motivation to his game. “It was a little bit easier to go to work and know that you have something to play for, someone that’s really depending on you outside of you and your wife,” he shared.
It seems like the Dodgers are in the midst of a baby boom. Max Muncy recently welcomed a baby girl in January, proudly showing her off in a Dodgers uniform. Fan favorite Kiké Hernández and his wife, Mariana, celebrated the arrival of their second child, a boy named Santiago José, in February.
New addition Kyle Tucker and his wife, Samantha, also welcomed their first child, a boy. Meanwhile, first baseman Freddie Freeman and his wife, Chelsea, are expecting their fourth child.
With so much success on the field, the Dodgers are also thriving off it, with families growing left and right. Former Dodger Clayton Kershaw and his wife celebrated the birth of their fifth child last year.
Kyle Tucker shared his thoughts on the baby boom impacting the clubhouse. “We’ve got a lot of little ones running around the clubhouse and everyone right now,” he said.
“It’s fun to see and share this experience with everyone, and have them come out to BP and the clubhouse and everything, it’s really cool to see all of that. It’s a lot of fun.”
