Kike Hernandez Embraces Pressure as Dodgers Chase Historic Three-Peat

Dodgers Kike Hernandez embraces the challenge of a three-peat, seeing it as an honor amid differing team priorities.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are feeling the heat as they chase a third consecutive World Series title in the 2026 season. Yet, Kike Hernandez, a beloved figure among fans, seems unfazed by the mounting pressure.

In a conversation with The Athletic, Hernandez expressed his enthusiasm for the challenge, describing it as both a compliment and a privilege. “We’re in an era where not every team owner is focused on winning.

Many are more interested in the financial side, and that’s their choice. But not all 30 teams are gunning for a World Series.

Being part of a team committed to competing deep into October is something I consider a privilege,” he shared.

Hernandez’s comments may have been a subtle nod towards the Los Angeles Angels. Recently, Angels owner Arte Moreno highlighted that their fans prioritize affordability and a good ballpark experience over winning, based on survey results.

For Dodgers fans, who have celebrated back-to-back championships, the idea of not prioritizing victory might seem unimaginable.

On the personal front, Hernandez remains focused on winning. While preparing for another season with the Dodgers, he’s also been involved with Team Puerto Rico during the World Baseball Classic. Although unable to play due to his recovery from surgery, Hernandez has been a supportive presence as the tournament returned to Puerto Rico for the first time since 2013.

Reflecting on the experience, Hernandez said, “It’s a moment I’ll never forget. I’m disappointed not to be playing, but I’m here to support my people.” He’s enjoyed watching Puerto Rico’s success, including their dramatic walk-off home run against Panama, which he described as “one of those really cool moments that I’ll always remember.”

With Hernandez’s unwavering spirit and the Dodgers’ commitment to excellence, the stage is set for another thrilling season.
