Dodgers Stun Mariners as Teoscar Hernandez Shines in Spring Showdown

Teoscar Hernandez and Kyle Tucker shine as the Dodgers overcome a late Mariners rally, continuing their strong Spring Training performance.

Teoscar Hernandez Shines in Dodgers' Spring Training Victory

In Peoria, AZ, Teoscar Hernandez is making waves this Spring Training, looking fit and focused as he aims to rebound from a challenging 2025 season. With Kyle Tucker now in right field, Hernandez has shifted back to left and is thriving. On Friday night, he showcased his power with a second consecutive game homer, leading the Dodgers to a 10-7 victory over the Seattle Mariners.

Teo Sets the Tone Early

The Dodgers wasted no time getting on the board. Miguel Rojas kicked things off with a leadoff double, followed by a stolen base and a walk from Kyle Tucker, setting the stage for Hernandez.

Facing lefty Kade Anderson, Hernandez worked the count full before launching a center-cut changeup over the right-field bullpen. His performance, including a 2-for-3 night, has boosted his Cactus League batting average to an impressive .484 with an OPS of 1.289.

While these numbers aren't sustainable over a full season, a glimpse of this form from Hernandez could make the Dodgers a formidable force.

Dodgers Break It Open in the Sixth

After the Mariners tied the game in the second inning, the Dodgers responded with a powerful six-run sixth inning. Tucker broke the tie with a towering 419-foot home run, his first of the spring.

Hernandez continued his hot streak with a single, and Santiago Espinal chipped in with an infield single to score Hernandez, making it 5-3. James Tibbs III delivered the knockout blow, blasting a three-run homer down the right-field line to extend the lead to 9-3.

Dodgers Hold Firm Despite Late Mariners Push

With a 9-3 lead, the Dodgers' bullpen was tasked with holding off the Mariners. Seattle added a run in the seventh, but the Dodgers responded with one of their own in the ninth.

Yency Almonte faced a late challenge as Colt Emerson homered, bringing the Mariners closer with three runs in the ninth. However, the Dodgers held on to secure the win.

The Dodgers' pitching staff had its ups and downs. Edgardo Henriquez impressed with three strikeouts, and Will Klein delivered a scoreless outing.

However, Blake Treinen and Ben Casparius struggled with command, each walking three batters. Treinen, in particular, is still searching for consistency as the season approaches.

Dodgers Ready for Camelback Ranch Showdown

With this victory, the Dodgers (14-6) head back to Camelback Ranch to face the Chicago White Sox. Although both teams call CBR home during Spring Training, the White Sox will be the home team for this matchup.

Justin Wrobleski will take the mound for the Dodgers. First pitch is set for 1:05 PDT.
