Dodgers Shake Up Roster, Sending Trio of Players to Minors

Dodgers adjust their roster ahead of the season, sending key players to minor league camp after standout spring performances.

The Dodgers are gearing up for the Freeway Series with a roster that includes three non-roster invitees who have yet to make their major league debuts. Pitchers Chris Campos and Antoine Kelly impressed during camp and remain in the mix, alongside Eliézer Alfonzo. Alfonzo took on a starting role in eight games in Arizona while Will Smith was away at the World Baseball Classic.

Meanwhile, three other invitees with major league experience - Jack Suwinski, Nick Senzel, and catcher Seby Zavala - have been reassigned to the minor league camp in Arizona. Suwinski, picked up off waivers from the Pirates, spent most of his spring on the backfields. Despite a late start in the Cactus League, he made his presence known with three home runs in as many games.

Nick Senzel, a seasoned six-year veteran, was tied for the second-most games played during the Arizona leg of spring training. He showcased his versatility, playing primarily at third base, with stints at second base and as a designated hitter.

Senzel, who hit .282/.453/.615 with three homers and 12 walks, is headed back to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Last season, he posted a .252/.341/.408 line there after joining the Dodgers on a minor league deal.

Seby Zavala, a veteran catcher, participated in 16 Cactus League games, mostly behind the plate. The 32-year-old, who last played in the majors with the Mariners in 2024, hit .222/.333/.398 this spring, adding a home run and three walks to his stats in 21 plate appearances.

The Dodgers continue to evaluate their roster with an eye on maximizing talent and depth, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
