Dodgers Prospects Gave Fans Plenty To Notice During Futures Game Break

As the Dodgers' minor league teams head into the All-Star break, standout performances from players like Logan Wagner and Ryan Ward hint at a promising future for the organization.

The Dodgers’ minor league pipeline kept producing Sunday, with power, pitching depth and a couple of notable Futures Game appearances all showing up across the system.

In Philadelphia, outfielders Josue De Paula and Mike Sirota handled left field for the National League in the MLB Futures Game. De Paula got the start and played the first four innings, finishing 1 for 2 with a single. Sirota went down on strikes in his lone at-bat, but his on-base streak is still very much intact at 72 straight games once play resumes on Friday.

The day’s biggest individual performance came from Great Lakes infielder Logan Wagner. Working at second base, he went deep twice and knocked in three runs.

Triple-A Oklahoma City kept rolling behind a familiar cast. Ryan Ward homered and drove in three as the Comets beat the El Paso Chihuahuas.

Zach Ehrhard added three hits, including a double, and scored twice. Jack Suwinski also turned in a three-hit day with a double, while James Tibbs III matched them with three hits of his own.

The pitching was just as clean. Oklahoma City used nine relievers, and each one delivered a scoreless inning in the 8-0 win.

At Double-A Tulsa, the Drillers dropped a 3-1 decision to Springfield after the Cardinals pushed across two runs in the seventh. Wyatt Crowell had already worked three scoreless innings out of the bullpen before the trouble hit in the seventh, when he walked two and gave up a two-run double that ended up deciding the game.

Christian Zazueta also had a short outing, though he did strike out three over three innings while allowing one run. It was his only start on four days’ rest this season, after he also took the ball in Tuesday’s series opener.

High-A Great Lakes got strong relief work from Robby Porco and Justin Chambers, who combined for six strikeouts over 3 1/3 scoreless innings.

In Class-A Ontario, Jaron Elkins and Easton Shelton each homered in a 4-2 win over Inland Empire. Brady Smith started and struck out seven over three innings, giving up one run. Luis Carias then finished the job, allowing one run over the final six innings and striking out five to earn the win.

Sunday’s scores: Oklahoma City 8, El Paso 0

Springfield 3, Tulsa 1 Great Lakes 3, Dayton 1

Ontario 4, Inland Empire 2

The week ahead: Oklahoma City at Tacoma (Mariners)

Tulsa at Frisco (Rangers) Great Lakes vs.

West Michigan (Tigers) Ontario vs.

Lake Elsinore (Padres)

All four Dodgers affiliates are off for the All-Star break and won’t return until Friday night, when they’ll begin shortened three-game series. From Monday through Thursday, minor league action is limited to the Arizona Complex League and the Dominican Summer League.

Dodgers Suddenly Face A Bigger Roki Sasaki Question Than Before

Roki Sasakis first season in the majors has been a study in contrasts, which is hardly what the Dodgers expected when they brought over a pitcher with such a decorated track record in Nippon Professional Baseball. The 24-year-old has had flashes that hint at why the organization was so interested in him, but the overall line has been uneven, and the club has spent much of the year trying to figure out where his best fit really is.

Dave Roberts has said Sasaki is better now than he was at the start of the season, and there have been enough encouraging outings to keep that assessment from sounding like empty optimism. Even so, the larger question for the Dodgers is no longer just whether Sasaki can settle in as a starter, but how much the team can afford to keep waiting while the rest of the pitching picture continues to shift around him. Padres Draft Pick Just Won Over Fans With One Dodgers Shot

The Padres used the 21st pick in the 2026 MLB Draft on a Florida right-hander who arrives with plenty of buzz after a dominant senior season at South Walton High School. He put together a 0.21 ERA, went 11-0 and piled up 121 strikeouts, a run that helped him earn Floridas Gatorade High School Player of the Year Award and made him one of the more polished prep arms in the class.

What also stood out at his opening press conference was the confidence he showed talking about the rivalry waiting for him in the National League West. For Dodgers fans, it was the kind of early jab that can instantly make a prospect memorable, especially when it comes from a player who has already shown he can back up big words with big results on the mound. MLB Insider Just Linked A Juggernaut To The Deadline's Biggest Prize

Tarik Skubal has become the kind of name that can reshape the entire trade-deadline conversation, and the Detroit left-hander sits at the center of it as the reigning American League Cy Young winner. With the deadline drawing closer, the buzz around him has only grown, and ESPN insider Jeff Passan added to it by placing the Dodgers squarely in the mix as a team with the resources and appeal to chase a pitcher of that caliber.

For Los Angeles, the idea is obvious enough to linger: a front office that has spent years operating from a position of strength now has a chance to pursue the most coveted arm on the market. Nothing is settled, and Detroit has not moved him, but the speculation alone underscores how aggressively the deadline could tilt if the Dodgers decide this is the moment to push in. [Read more 🡒]
