The Los Angeles Dodgers are making it clear: they’re not satisfied with back-to-back World Series titles - they want a third, and they’re willing to go all-in to get it.
Despite some deferred money on the books, the Dodgers have already made a splash this offseason by signing star closer Edwin Díaz. And they’re far from done. The front office is still actively linked to a number of potential additions, with two names generating serious buzz: Cody Bellinger and Kyle Tucker.
Let’s start with Tucker. The Houston slugger would be a dream fit in LA’s lineup - a left-handed bat with pop, plate discipline, and defensive versatility.
But there’s a catch: his price tag. Tucker’s long-term value is sky-high, and unless he’s open to a short-term deal - something that would be surprising given his trajectory - the Dodgers might have to look elsewhere.
Still, with their financial flexibility and championship urgency, you can’t count them out of any major move.
Then there’s the Bellinger angle. A reunion with the former MVP is very much on the table.
After rediscovering his swing in Chicago, Bellinger has rebuilt his market value and looks like a much more complete hitter than the one who struggled through injuries and inconsistency in his final years with LA. Bringing him back would not only be a fan-favorite move, but it would also give the Dodgers another left-handed bat with elite defense in the outfield and the ability to play first base.
Manager Dave Roberts has expressed confidence in the current roster, saying he’d be happy to run it back in 2026. But let’s be honest - this is the Dodgers.
Standing pat isn’t really in their DNA. They’re expected to pursue bullpen help in the short term, but they haven’t ruled out going big again.
That means Bellinger and Tucker remain firmly on the radar.
One area where LA might need to act sooner rather than later? Middle infield depth.
Tommy Edman is coming off ankle surgery, and while the team is optimistic he’ll be ready for Opening Day, there’s no guarantee he’ll be at full speed. And with a long season ahead, the Dodgers may look to shore up that part of the roster.
Enter Brendan Donovan.
The St. Louis Cardinals utility man is already being linked to LA, and for good reason.
According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, Donovan could be a perfect fit - especially with Edman’s status still a bit uncertain. Donovan is one of those classic Dodgers-type players: versatile, reliable, and quietly productive.
He can play all over the diamond, giving Roberts the kind of flexibility this team thrives on.
“He’s just kind of one of those plug-and-play guys the Dodgers seem to do really well with,” Woo noted. And she’s not wrong. LA has built a reputation for maximizing the value of players just like Donovan - guys who might not be household names, but who end up playing key roles on championship-caliber teams.
Donovan’s contract is also manageable, which only adds to his appeal. If the Cardinals are open to dealing him, this could be a move that makes a lot of sense for both sides.
Meanwhile, there are whispers that Teoscar Hernández could be on the way out. If that happens, the Dodgers will have even more motivation to add a bat - and possibly another outfielder. Whether that’s Bellinger, Tucker, or someone else entirely, expect LA to stay aggressive.
Bottom line: the Dodgers aren’t just looking to defend their title - they’re looking to extend a dynasty. And with the way this offseason is shaping up, they’re not afraid to make the bold moves needed to get there.
