Dodgers Finally Know When Their Brewers Showdown Will Begin

Major League Baseball announces the schedule for the 2023 League Championship Series, setting the stage for an intense battle between the Dodgers and Brewers in the NLCS.

Major League Baseball has locked in the start times for the League Championship Series, and the National League gets the first turn on Sunday evening before the American League opens Monday, October 12.

In the NLCS, the Dodgers and Brewers are back at it again. Los Angeles knocked out the Atlanta Braves in four games in the NLDS, and now it will meet Milwaukee for the second straight year.

This is the third NLCS matchup between the two clubs in the last nine years, with a 2020 wild card series in the middle. Milwaukee enters with home-field advantage after finishing with an MLB-best 103 wins.

The ALCS is already partly set. The Tampa Bay Rays are in and waiting on the winner of the Division Series between the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians.

There are two days where both championship series will be played: Monday, October 12, when NLCS Game 2 leads off before ALCS Game 1 at night, and Thursday, October 15, when ALCS Game 3 comes first followed by NLCS Game 4. Two more days could also feature doubleheaders if both series go the distance: Friday, October 16, with NLCS Game 5 and ALCS Game 4, and Monday, October 19, with NLCS Game 7 and ALCS Game 6. On those possible two-game days, the NLCS has the later start times.

Fox Sports will carry the NLCS, while TBS has the ALCS.

Dodgers Still Have One Huge Shohei Ohtani Problem In October

Shohei Ohtanis October start with the Dodgers has not looked much like the middle of a postseason centerpiece. He has struggled at the plate in recent months, and the National League Division Series against the Braves offered more of the same, with Ohtani hitting .154 and driving in no runs. Even so, the Dodgers advanced to the National League Championship Series, which has bought them time to keep believing the offense from one of baseballs biggest stars will eventually show up when it matters most.

Dave Roberts and Andrew Friedman have both acknowledged the slump, but neither has sounded alarmed about where this could go from here. Their confidence is rooted in Ohtanis track record and the expectation that the bat will come around later in the postseason, which leaves the Dodgers in a familiar October spot: good enough to keep moving, but still waiting on the one player who can change the tone of the lineup in a hurry. Dodgers Fans Have A New October Debate After Beating Atlanta

The Dodgers NLDS win over Atlanta gave fans plenty to dissect, and the conversation quickly turned to who stood out most in October. In a postseason series that featured multiple big performances, Los Angeles supporters weighed a dominant outing from Yoshinobu Yamamoto against the kind of all-around impact that Max Muncy brought with his power at the plate and his work in the field.

Yamamoto emerged as the fan favorite in a poll for NLDS MVP, with Muncy and Freddie Freeman also drawing support. The results say plenty about how Dodgers fans viewed the series: one camp leaned into the significance of Yamamotos Game 3 brilliance, while another saw Muncys three home runs and defensive value as just as central to the advance, setting up a familiar October debate as the club moves on. Dodgers Just Made Clear How Serious This NLCS Test Will Be

The Dodgers have set the tone for the National League Championship Series by lining up their first two starters, and it only adds to the sense that this matchup with Milwaukee will be a real pitching test from the jump. Skubal, fresh off a strong postseason debut, gets the ball in Game 1, giving Los Angeles a front-line arm to open the series on the road to the pennant.

Milwaukees expected response only sharpens the stakes, with the Brewers lining up a pair of arms who have already made this October interesting. Between the quality at the top of both rotations and the fact that each side is comfortable leaning on young pitchers with big-game stuff, this looks less like a series that will be decided by one swing and more like one that may hinge on which staff holds up first.
