Dodgers Facing Big Call Up Decision On Prospect

Rising prospect James Tibbs III is making headlines in Triple-A, potentially nudging the Dodgers to rethink their lineup with his standout performances.

James Tibbs III is making waves early in the Triple-A season with the Oklahoma City Comets, and it’s hard to ignore his push for a call-up. In just three games, Tibbs has been electrifying, showcasing power and precision at the plate. His standout performance against the Albuquerque Isotopes saw him launch two homers and drive in five runs, adding to an already impressive start.

Tibbs was on fire the previous game as well, matching his career high with four hits, scoring three runs, and notching three RBIs. His early season stats are eye-popping: a .615/.642/1.461 slash line, leading to an OPS north of 2.000. This kind of production is exactly what you want from a top prospect.

After bouncing around last season, Tibbs seems to have found his footing with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Originally traded from the Boston Red Sox in a deal involving Dustin May, and before that from the San Francisco Giants as part of the Rafael Devers trade, Tibbs has experienced a whirlwind start to his career. Now, he feels more settled with the Dodgers, focusing on what he can control and building a solid foundation.

In spring training, Tibbs left a mark, catching the eye of manager Dave Roberts. Over 23 games, he batted .313 with four homers and 11 RBIs, posting a robust 1.053 OPS.

Despite his impressive play, Tibbs faces a challenging path to the majors due to the Dodgers' stacked roster. With All-Stars Kyle Tucker and Teoscar Hernandez in the outfield and Freddie Freeman at first base, opportunities are limited.

However, if Tibbs continues this torrid pace, the Dodgers might have no choice but to find a spot for him. At 23, his potential is undeniable, and his recent performances suggest he could be ready to make the leap sooner rather than later.
