The Dodgers just watched their bid for a third straight World Series title fall apart in the NLCS, getting swept by the Milwaukee Brewers in four games. With the sting of that finish still fresh, they’re already staring at a roster that looks mostly intact for 2027 - which is usually a plus, but also leaves room for a little reset.
One name that could move is Teoscar Hernandez. He’s owed more than $17 million in the final guaranteed year of his deal next season, with a club option for $15 million in 2028. If Los Angeles wants to shake things up and create a path for top prospect Josue De Paula to take over in left field, Hernandez becomes the obvious trade chip.
And there are a few places where a deal could make sense for everybody involved.
Toronto is one of them. The Blue Jays had some interest in bringing Hernandez back this past offseason after missing out on Kyle Tucker, according to a source told FanSided.
Hernandez spent six seasons in Toronto from 2017-2022 and developed there into an All-Star outfielder before the Blue Jays sent him to the Seattle Mariners after the 2022 season. The fit is easy to see: Toronto needs outfield help, and Hernandez could slot in as the left fielder while Nathan Lukes moves to center.
Houston also makes sense as a landing spot. Hernandez started his big league career with the Astros, though it was a brief run - just 42 games before Houston dealt him to the Blue Jays at the 2017 trade deadline for Francisco Liriano.
The Astros need to rebuild their outfield this winter, and right now Cam Smith is the only regular who can be confidently projected into their starting mix. Hernandez would give them a right-handed bat with some needed punch.
Then there’s the Yankees, who could use that same kind of right-handed power in a lineup that leans left. Cody Bellinger is currently in left field and Aaron Judge is in right, but Hernandez could give New York the option to shift Bellinger to center if offense becomes the priority over defense.
After the Yankees’ offense sputtered in the ALDS, when they were swept by the AL East rival Tampa Bay Rays, a move like this would fit the kind of roster changes they need to make ahead of 2027. Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone are staying in place, but the Yankees still have to upgrade the roster, and Hernandez would be a solid start.

Dodgers Could Be Lurking For Baseballs Next Huge Trade Prize
Junior Caminero has spent the season looking every bit like the kind of young power bat that changes a lineup, and the 23-year-old Rays third baseman has only raised his profile with a strong showing in the 2026 World Series after launching 42 home runs in the regular season. For a Tampa Bay club that has long had to weigh talent against payroll reality, that kind of production puts Caminero squarely in the center of a future decision the Rays may not want to face.
Jorge Castillo reported that Caminero is aiming for a record-setting contract in the neighborhood of the deals signed by Juan Soto or Vladimir Guerrero Jr., a price tag Tampa Bay may not be able to match. If that path eventually opens the door to a trade, the Dodgers would make plenty of sense as a contender with the financial muscle, a deep farm system and the roster flexibility to chase another star-caliber addition. Dodgers Just Added A Wild Baseball Show Fans Will Circle Now
Dodger Stadium is getting a very different kind of baseball show in April 2027, when the Savannah Bananas and their Banana Ball World Tour come to Los Angeles. The announcement adds another layer to a ballpark that has hosted just about everything over the years, but this one is built around the Banana Ball style that has turned the Bananas into one of the sports most talked-about attractions.
The event will use a lottery system for ticket access, which figures to make the chase almost as notable as the show itself. More details on game times and other event information are still to come, but for Dodgers fans, the date is already one to mark down because this is not the usual night at the ballpark. [Read more 🡒]
Dodgers Face One Crucial Free Agency Call After Costly Misses
Tarik Skubal, a two-time Cy Young winner set to hit free agency, still sees the Dodgers as a franchise built to stay at the top even after their sweep in the National League Championship Series. That kind of external belief matters for a team that just watched its season end earlier than expected, especially with the front office already weighing how to retool around a roster that came up short when it counted most.
Brandon Gomes has already acknowledged the uneven regular-season returns from Kyle Tucker and Edwin Diaz, even as both players made meaningful postseason contributions, which only adds to the sense that Los Angeles has decisions to sort through on the margins as much as the stars. One of those calls centers on left-handed reliever Alex Vesia, who is also headed for free agency and could draw interest elsewhere even if the Dodgers try to keep him on a team-friendly deal.
