The Dodgers and Diamondbacks head into Sunday’s rubber match at Chase Field with the series tied and plenty still hanging in the balance.
Arizona grabbed the opener Friday, pulling out a 4-3 win in walk-off fashion after a comeback. Then on Saturday, the Diamondbacks came within a breath of doing it again, tying the game in the ninth before Los Angeles escaped with a 2-1 victory in 10 innings. That win snapped the Dodgers’ seven-game skid and pulled the season series even at six games each.
“Offensively, we just got to get going," manager Dave Roberts said after Saturday's game. "It’s hard to win games when your margin is a razor’s edge. So, it’s not like guys aren’t trying, but it’s a tough way to pitch and have to be perfect.”
Los Angeles still carries an 8.5-game cushion over Arizona in the National League West, while the Diamondbacks remain in the second wild-card spot.
Sunday’s matchup features a left-handed showdown between two first-time All-Stars. Justin Wrobleski gets the ball for the Dodgers, while Eduardo Rodriguez starts for Arizona.
Wrobleski, an All-Star for the first time in 2026, enters at 11-3 with a 3.31 ERA in 117 innings. He’s punched out 91 hitters and walked 24. He already handled the Diamondbacks once this season, throwing six shutout innings with four strikeouts in the first week of June.
Rodriguez has seen the Dodgers plenty this year, with three starts against them already. In the season’s first series, he gave up one unearned run over five innings and struck out five.
On June 1, he allowed one run across six innings with three strikeouts. Then on July 10, he surrendered two runs over six innings while striking out five.
Rodriguez is 10-4 with a 2.71 ERA over 136.1 innings this season.
First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. PT/4:10 p.m.
